The film won the Best Picture Award at the 49th Cannes Film Festival. Watched Mike Lee's fourth film ("Meanwhile", "Nothing", "Life is Sweet", "Secrets and Lies"). Looking at it this way, I already like the master's story style very much. If I rank it in my heart, I would like to have nothing, secrets and lies, and life is sweet. Compatible with the master director, are the actors in these films, with their elegant and restrained British demeanor, plain and indifferent life emotions, presented one by one with empathy. Needless to say, Timothy Spall has a natural and unmarked civilian interpretation method. I was very comfortable with it when I first met it. I was really fascinated by the three parts. The fat and woody uncle of mourning has his own unique charm of earthly fireworks, looking friendly and earthy. Brenda Bryce, the best actress in the Golden Globes, has amazing acting skills. She was a little uncomfortable with the crazy mother who was talking about her mother-in-law at the beginning, until her illegitimate daughter who had grown up came to her door. The 8 minutes when the mother and daughter met were really shocking. For a full 8 minutes (the two actors acted so well), the mother went from panic, collapse, panic and heartache to calm, chatting, laughing and bitter resentment, and finally accepting the relatives who were reluctant to part, every word, every small sigh, and everyone who watched it was heartbroken. Sad, forget everything, only the deep feelings into the play. In the end, the mother broke the boat and told her family this big secret. When she sat in the small garden and calmly said "This is life", two hours of worry and trouble finally poured out of the small hole, the waterfall was running, and the tears were relieved and healed. It was this ordinary and strong and respectable mother, actress Brenda Blethyn, who was all over her face. I think I will always remember the release and emotion this film brought me. (Oh, by the way, the director said, "Most of the film is improvised by actors." I really like my mother's cute catchphrase "SWEETHEART".) How many secrets people have to bury, and how many lies are needed to cover them up. It's better to say it all and let others share, the ending is actually not as bad as you think. Mike Lee's family movie, trivial gossip life, as always, excellent and engaging.
