"Everyone in the world is as miserable and empty as I am, they're just better at pretending than I am."
Everyone is unique, but everyone has their own pains and struggles. We always think that others are smooth sailing and that we are God's abandoned child and plaything. This movie is about depression in adolescence, but in reality, many people never get out of "adolescence" in their entire lives. So I believe that every person who is in "adolescence" will think of something after watching the movie, and those who have come out of "adolescence" and have a tolerant heart will smile knowingly after watching it.
In those years, we always didn't realize that we were the only one in the world. We didn't realize that although we had various shortcomings, we were still so cute, so we often didn't love ourselves enough. Just like Nadine, although she is young and mature, she has her own unique views on the world and her inner pure persistence. Although her personality is "weird" and not sociable, she has the purest and most delicate love for her relatives and friends. She is beautiful, and she is the only one. Yes, her mistakes are inexcusable, but she just hasn't grown up yet, she is still on the "edge of growth" and is afraid of falling into the abyss.
We are also unaware of our own ordinary, maybe we are no-ones, maybe we are stars, but no matter what we are, we all have the same pain and trouble that we cannot escape: Nadine's depression, brother's sacrifice, mother's indifference Help, Christa's dilemma... In this world, who in this world has a whole body of injury, while secretly sad, and smiling at the same time? Some people, they are not painless, they are so glamorous, but they are just better at disguising. But we don't realize it, so while we resent the injustice of God, we wantonly hurt the seemingly carefree people around us, young people, hateful and pitiful, but what can we do? Who doesn't grow up like this?
My favorite quote about pain is: "You have to remember this feeling, because the dawn will come soon, and you have to cherish and enjoy the darkness before that", everyone is saying, walk past you Victory, but pain and struggle are also the essence of life, cherish it, just cherish such a contradictory youth, cherish yourself, cherish the people around you, and cherish this youth.
