I remember the first time I watched Black Mirror for the first time a few years ago, and I was really shocked. I am also a Filmmaker, and my style is also inclined towards sci-fi, of course not the visual department of Transformers, like Black Mirror, which uses technology to tap the dark side of human nature. For sci-fi films, of course, the idea is the most important. What kind of revolutionary new technology is proposed, and then describe the advantages and disadvantages it brings to human civilization. But when I watched the first season, the first episode, which should be arguably the least sci-fi episode, was stunned. Such a simple and ingenious idea makes the terrifying power of the social network displayed and convincing in the Internet age we are currently living in. After watching the second and third episodes, I realized that this is the best sci-fi drama I have ever watched, and it is much better than many big sci-fi movies. There is a lot of room to expand and make a big movie.
Starting from the third episode, after Netflix bought its copyright, it was obvious that the quantity went up and the quality went down. But until the third season, it still tried to maintain its consistent style, but this fourth season, I really can't find that feeling. Whether it's actors, production, props, photography, or even the narrative is not as good as before.
Actually, I really like Christmas specials. I think some of the ideas in it are very good, especially the cookie that copied the consciousness of the person. In fact, the sixth episode can be said to revolve around that idea.
The first episode is copy awareness, locked in the game and abused.
The second and third episodes, whether reading memory or monitoring her daughter, are all similar to the technology in the third episode of the first season.
In the fourth episode, I think this episode may also lock everyone's consciousness into the so-called system, let the consciousness match each other, and then the most successful, match the real master above, let the real masters start to love each other. The same feeling is to consciously copy the creativity.
The fifth episode, this episode is purely for visual enjoyment, with no connotation and no connection with other Black Mirrors.
In the sixth episode, I want to have a big collection, put all the props into a museum, and reluctantly relate to the content of other episodes. Unlike the Christmas special, that episode was well narrated by Jon Hamm, well acted and relatable. But why am I particularly disgusted that the person in the sixth episode is very rigid and his acting skills are a bit overdone. The solution is easy to guess.
Anyway, that's it, I have to rush to my friend's house for New Year's Eve, so I'll write this first, and I'll update it after reading it for a few days.
Happy New Year to you!
