the other side of war

War dramas usually depict and show his cruelty and blood to remind people of the importance of peace and the preciousness of our good life. But this film almost compares the stable lives of people in the United States to show what soldiers on the battlefield may lose, or that they give up this stable life to ensure the stability and peace of others.
You don't see the gore and brutality of the usual war movies. But you can experience the sacrifices of the soldiers and the rights deprived of people by the war through warm pictures.
The two images left a deep impression on me. One is that when getting off the plane, the captain announces that there is an important guest to go home and hopes that the passengers of the entire plane can let the martyr get off the plane in advance to show respect and gratitude to the martyr. Many strangers on the plane observed a moment of silence on the tarmac to show respect. Another picture is on the high speed, when the vehicle finds that there is a vehicle with a chance coffin in front, all the drivers turn on the lights to show respect and do not follow quietly and do not overtake.
This movie may not be a classic, but it must be a new perspective and entry point that allows you to understand the other side of war.

Taking Chance quotes

  • LtCol Mike Strobl: [Noticing Annie had typed "HOT soldier" into her phone] Actually, it's Marine.

  • LtCol Mike Strobl: I stayed home. I was trained to fight. If I'm not over there, what am I? Those guys, guys like Chance... they're Marines.

Charlie Fitts: And you think you're not? Want to be with your family every night - you think you have to justify that? You'd better stop right there, sir. You've brought Chance home. You're his witness now. Without a witness, they just disappear.
