Exaggerated Exaggeration of Visual Feast

I wanted to watch the well-received "La La Land", but ended up watching the action film "Extreme Agent: The Ultimate Return" directed by Caluso first. I accidentally saw several familiar actors in the film, such as Donnie Yen, Wu Yifan, Toni Jia (I saw him and Wu Jing starring in "Slaying the Wolf 2" before), as well as the friendship of the famous Brazilian star Neymar. The story of "Extreme Agent: The Ultimate Return" is lackluster, only the extreme action and fighting chase are a little bit eye-catching, but unfortunately, there is no room for thinking from the beginning to the end. Perhaps this kind of film is to make people feel cool with hot scenes and let people enjoy the exciting visual spectacle. As for the back-to-back shootout scene between the two female leads and Donnie Yen's aerial snatch, it is actually a tribute to Hong Kong director John Woo's violent aesthetics. The slow-motion shooting action created by John Woo has influenced a large number of Hollywood Action movie. The excessive exaggeration of the visual feast of the film and the unintelligible characterization are like chicken feathers, and there is no aftertaste at all.

xXx: Return of Xander Cage quotes

  • Xander Cage: Wow. No wonder our country's in debt trillions of dollars. Do you really need all these gadgets to get the bad guys?

Jane Marke: Oh, we don't need any of it. But it makes the catching a hell of a lot more fun.

  • Jane Marke: Agent Clearidge worked closely with Gibbons. She'll handle support for the operation.

Becky Clearidge: And I bet a guy like you needs a lot of support. What are you? Like 220? 230? Be honest. 250 is the hard max for my swing.

    Xander Cage: Oh, come on.

Becky Clearidge: I'm kidding. It's not like I have a safe word, or anything. It's "kumquat." Never really think about it. Kumquat.
