Let Dublin rot behind you

The Chinese translation of "Sing Street", which was missed at the 2016 EU Film Festival, is "The Love Song of First Love". The title party thought it was a youth movie with a girl's heart, but didn't go to the movie. It is more immersive than the pure "Your Name", and instantly brings people back to 20 years old. The soundtrack of the movie is nice, and the hero and heroine are super cute. The hard-working young people in Dublin, retro music and vintage clothes are simmering in the wind, forming a band like a family, and the little kid is not afraid, writing songs, shooting low-quality MVs, and never tired of it. After listening to the music, alas, I realized that the director once directed "Once". brown shoes, go now, to find you, up...the first song is good. Is the end a tribute to "Lovers in New Bridge": Let Dublin rot behind you! In the movie, the elder brother gave the "class" to the futuristic vocalist younger brother who didn't understand anything. The Duran Duran band was mentioned, so nostalgic, Favorite band back then.

Sing Street quotes

  • Eamon: So how do you mean you're "happy-sad"?

Darren: Yeah, how're we supposed to market that?

Conor: It means we're not pop anymore.

Eamon: We were pop? Listen, I'm happy being anything. I just want to play music.

Conor: That's fine. Be who you are, Eamon.

    Eamon: Well, I don't know who I am. Maybe I'm happy-sad, too. I don't know.

  • Darren: What does "happy-sad" even mean? How can we be both things? It makes no sense.

Conor: It means that I'm stuck in this shithole full of morons and rapists and bullies, and I'm gonna deal with it, okay? It's just how life is. I'm gonna try and accept it and get on with it, and make some art.

Eamon: So how does that affect our music?

    Conor: Positively.
