The film is like the predecessor of "Focus", which tells the story of how several reporters from the media and newspapers overcame difficulties and achieved justice. "The President's Team" deals with national politics. It can be said that it is a film that perfectly combines business, art and political genres. It was a rare revolutionary movie in the 1970s, while "Focus" deals with social issues. Most of it is artistry and authenticity, and I feel more deeply after watching it. They also have some similarities in that they have a large amount of information and a lot of names. It may take several times to really understand them all.

Guaranteeing freedom of the press may also secure the future of a country.

Pen barrels can be the most powerful weapon. I love the way the ending is handled, it's ironic. Also, be sure to mention Robert Redford. . He really made me feel like I saw Brad Pitt through time, he looks like~~

Two young reporters, under the grim situation that the head of state ordered to silence and exerted power to obstruct the investigation and exerted pressure, unswervingly investigated the truth, uncovered the Nixon Watergate scandal from a theft case, and forced Nixon, who had just succeeded in his re-election, to resign. Although there is an idealization tendency, which may obscure the subtle political struggles in history, the media conscience, freedom of the press, independence of the rule of law, open government affairs, and restraint of power displayed by it are moving.

All the President's Men quotes

  • Ben Bradlee: How much can you tell me about Deep Throat?

Bob Woodward: How much do you need to know?

Ben Bradlee: Do you trust him?

    Bob Woodward: Yeah.

Ben Bradlee: I can't do the reporting for my reporters, which means I have to trust them. And I hate trusting anybody. Run that baby.

  • Carl Bernstein: I think it's Magruder.

Bob Woodward: I think it's Magruder too.

Carl Bernstein: Why do you think it's Magruder?

Bob Woodward: Because he was second in command under Mitchell. Why do you think it's Magruder?

Carl Bernstein: [Carl gets up and goes to open a jar of cookies] I think it's Magruder because at one time he was the temporary head of the Committee to Re-Elect before Mitchell.

[he flings one at Bob who, still furiously typing away, catches it without missing a beat]

    Bob Woodward: I don't want a cookie.
