The first bad point: in the case of bruises and wounds, the probability of surviving in the rainforest is almost zero. But the hero actually survived! ? This is an exaggeration.

The first part of the film shows that Marcus and Kevin are best friends. In the middle part, because Marcus is holding back, both Kevin and the male protagonist begin to dislike him, especially Kevin, but after Kevin is rescued, he insists on doing everything possible to find the male protagonist. I think this reflects the human nature, that is, in a difficult situation, the first priority is to give priority to self-interest; in the case of one's own safety and abundant resources, he is willing to take the initiative to try his best to help others. The first hallucination that appeared after the male protagonist was single was Marcus, perhaps because he lied to Marcus, out of a kind of guilt. Similarly, after Kevin was rescued, he insisted on looking for the male protagonist because he insisted on choosing the waterway, but put the male protagonist in danger and felt ashamed. Fortunately, he found the male protagonist at the end, and his heart was redeemed, so in the end the male protagonist said "you save my life" refers to life, while Kevin's "you save my life" refers to soul.

Regarding the disappearance of Carl and Marcus, the jungle itself is full of dangers, plus the rainy season, it is unlikely to survive, in such a case, they have to find an unknown "tribe", or " Treasure", it is very likely that something unexpected happened. There is also another possibility that Carl is still alive and continues to remain anonymous. But Marcus, it can basically be concluded that the worst is the worst.

As for whether Carl killed Marcus, I don't think so. First of all, there is no motive. Carl used "searching for primitive tribes" as a bait. In fact, he was looking for treasures, and he had no motive to kill; in addition, if Carl really had the intention to kill, he had a chance to kill these three people. Therefore, Carl is very familiar with the jungle, but he is taking this as a high-priced tour guide for slaughtering passengers, and if there is a chance, he will take the opportunity to find treasures.

Finally, about the male protagonist who encountered danger in the jungle and made various mistakes, because the male protagonist is a person who has no knowledge and experience of jungle survival, so it should be wrong, and it is understandable. He survived because of all kinds of hallucinations and persistence from nowhere.

Based on Yossi Ghinsberg’s three-week disappearance on Amazon when he was young (read his entry before the screening, great!)-I always felt that I was in collision with Z City, so I didn’t expect much: The survival story is based on real events I walked all over, of course, "moved" but not profound enough. However, the director who is good at horror films has done enough to create a few atmospheres to catch people-the story determines that this will be Dan Niu's glorious personal show, and facts have proved that he did it.

Jungle quotes

  • Karl: This is the last frontier on earth. Still alive, still wild. Not for long. We don't like wild. We don't like untamed. We're obsessed with control. So, we ruin the whole planet, and pride ourselves for creating stupid national parks with stupid rangers in stupid hats to protect what's already gone. Why? Cause we're scared. The jungle shows us what we really are. We're nothing. We're a joke. God fucked up.

Yossi Ghinsberg: [narrating] I left Israel in 1980 after three years in the army. I was desperate to escape the well-worn path. High school, university, work, marriage, kids. Not me. I wanted to be different. To experience the extraordinary. And to enter the unknown, discover lost tribes, hidden treasures, the darkest heart of the jungle. Which is why, of course, I ended up in Bolivia, South America.
