If you love her, you will also love her with such flaws

This is not a movie review. More likely to be random.
But I want to use my experience and feelings to explain why this film made me burst into tears.

1. I have a boyfriend who is in Turkey.
He grew up in eastern Turkey. Whenever I was sad, he would always say, please don't worry.
Later, once, he said that in fact, you are happier than us.
Your troubles, in my eyes, may not be called troubles.
If you've been through gunfire and war, you'll feel like you really live in a very happy country.

2. Of course, he is also very happy now. Because he is now working in a tourist city, although he is not a rich life, he lives in a fairy tale-like place that tourists all over the world want to visit.
How many people, for a lifetime, save a lot of money, not far away, probably just take a look at that place.
Because there is peace, tranquility, sweetness, and no worldly troubles.
He lives in such a place.

3. But he faces a problem, that is, he is going to serve in the military.
As a country with compulsory service, every Turkish man cannot escape the fate of service.
Service is random. You don't know where you'll be drawn. Maybe the Mediterranean side, like a vacation; maybe the Syrian border, like a nightmare.
He said, I don't want to go, because it's not about defending the country, it's a political game.
He said that the boxing champion Ali also refused to enlist in the army, because he felt that the Vietnam War had no name of justice, so he was willing to sacrifice the best five years of his life to be suspended, and did not join the army.

4. So when it comes to why this film makes me cry.
Seda, the female journalist in the film, has been critical of their country, their army, their war. She advocates justice and insists on doing the right thing.
But the officer said that the duty of a soldier is to carry out the mission, and the mission is the only one. You fight for justice for the people and the race, while I defend the lives of my subordinates.

When the chief died, Seda got off the helicopter and opened the note the chief had written to her.
The commander said, I have a daughter who, like you, has knowledge, wisdom, and justice. If she is still alive, I hope she can still love. Yes, our country, our people, our army, they have problems of this and that, but if you love her, you will love her with her flaws.

5. The fate of many people, in fact, cannot be determined by themselves.
We tell ourselves a lot of truth, but it is nothing more than persuading ourselves to accept some facts that we have to accept.
Because of this, many choices do not actually distinguish between right and wrong.

Seda asks the soldiers to save the village. But she did not stay with the soldiers in the end, and did not witness the cruelty of the killing moment with her own eyes.
Not only did the sniper die, but his son lost his father, his subordinate lost his good boss, his comrade-in-arms lost his good partner, he would never find his beloved again, and he said to her: we will forever together.

West Asia, who did not have Seda's fortitude, finally became the right-hand man of these men, running fearlessly to transport bullets in the hail of bullets.
Soldiers asked her, send you to cover?
She shook her head and said with a smile: No need, war makes warriors.

6. Are we only doing the right things? What can be called the right thing?
The justice between the lines and the peace exchanged with flesh and blood, which one is the truth in the world?
Peace it is beautiful. But really, maintaining it is too cruel.

7. This is also a typical patriotic film.
But I think the commander said the true meaning of love: if you love her, you will also love her with such flaws.

8. I don't know if he will serve. I don't know if he will come back safely in the end.
But this is the fate of his birth, as ordinary as we are powerless to change.

But thanks to him, I deeply understand the meaning of peace.
Because I was a journalist before, I insisted on justice, principles, and flawlessness.
But now, I find the world is more complicated than I thought.

9. Thank you to all who give for peace, sometimes right or wrong, really, thank you for peace.

  • Lieutenant Colonel Veysel Gökmusa: We are the unseen, the unknown, Our stories won't be told. Our names won't be remembered. We'll be forgotten. We are your hammer. The tip of your drawn arrow. We appear suddenly, we vanish suddenly. So that suffering stays away from you. so that your children are saved. What we do is unimportant. You might as well never know. So long as you're safe.
