Australian film "2:22"

Type of work: sci-fi romance (visual feast, weak plot)

Main Cast: Teresa Palmer (as Sarah), Michiel Huisman (as Dylan)

Story overview: When a man falls in love with a woman (Dylan falls in love with a cute girl Sarah)

Release Date: June 30, 2017 in the United States

The score of this work is not satisfactory, most film critics gave it a low score, think about it carefully, it is normal! Because the core of this film (plot + connotation) really can't stand scrutiny. So apart from the plot, how about the other aspects of the work? Like the picture? Performed by an actor? Let us enter the review stage together with doubts to analyze the pros and cons of this work.

Advantage 1 - The image is super cool . Aside from the plot, the visual effects of the film are still good. The scene, composition, and light and shadow deployment are all excellent, and it has a sense of sight of a sightseeing blockbuster.

Advantage 2 - Show of handsome men and beautiful women In terms of actors, the male protagonist Michiel Huisman looks like the "Prime Edition" Wolverine, and the female protagonist Teresa Palmer looks like the "Reissue" Twilight Girl. This combination of handsome men and women is definitely a visual enjoyment! As for acting? How to comment? No fault, just do it! Ha ha

Disadvantage 1 - The plot is a little bit 2

Speaking of the plot, I really don't know which word to use to describe it?

It's obviously a love story (a typical love triangle, two males "Dylan and Jonas" and a female "Sarah" model), but also a past life and present life, unnecessarily pulling out a "supernova" (a stage in the evolution of stars), It looks like a big gimmick, but it's actually pure nonsense. The director used an "astronomical" phenomenon that he didn't even fully understand to interpret two unswerving loves (spanning 30 years), and the result not only brought himself into the ditch, but also implicated a group of innocent audiences, why bother? ?

Disadvantage 2 - The architecture is a bit messy

To tell you the truth, this work didn't figure out until the last second, what did the director want to express? ! A moment, astronomical phenomenon (Figure 1); a moment, the fate of "love at first sight" (Figure 2); a moment, the time axis of experiencing "reincarnation" (Figure 3-5); a moment, the love of life and death 30 years ago (Figure 6) ; a moment, fatalism 30 years later (Fig. 7). Such complicated clues (boring going around in circles), just to "justify" (make up), prompt the successful pairing of Dylan and Sarah (Blood God Stick), the director and screenwriter, you have worked so hard!

Throughout the whole film, "2:22" is a work with quite prominent advantages and disadvantages, but unfortunately these superficial advantages are not enough to cover up the inherent lack of the film. So, if I were to rate this film, I would also give a bad review!

In the end, I would like to quote a passage from the Bible to explain the vague concept of "30-year reincarnation" in the work.

What has been, will be again;

What has been done will be done again.

There is nothing new under the sun.

Is there one thing people can point to and say this is new?

However, it has already existed in the generations before us.

- The Bible - Ecclesiastes 1:9-10

Director ☆☆☆☆ (good idea, unfortunately not enough)

Actor ★★☆☆☆ (two stars for appearance, need to practice acting)

Plot ★★☆☆☆ (embroidered pillow with a bag of grass)

Visual effects ★★★★☆ (the most attractive highlight of this work, but unfortunately the form is greater than the content)

Sound effects ★★★★☆ (the ending song is sultry and the soundtrack is shocking)

Recommendation ★★★☆☆ (Visual audiences can try this work. If it is a plot party, it is not recommended)

2:22 quotes

  • Dylan: in everyone's life there comes a time when the universe open itself for just a few moments to show us what's truly possible

  • Dylan Branson: [opening narration] My dad told me that people have always looked to the patterns of the stars to predict what was going to happen in their lives, and if you could understand those patterns then you'd be able to know what was going to happen before anyone else did. Last time we saw each other, he told me that each star's light has taken decades to reach us, and how it always burns brightest right before it dies. So now whenever a distant star lights up, I always feel like somewhere, somehow, someone's life is about to end.
