Darkness behind neon lights

- After watching the video, I wrote this in one breath. I didn't have time to reread it because it was too late. I will come back later to correct mistakes and polish the sentences and expressions. -The

story takes place in Bronx, flushing, and Queen in New York City, two of New York's most chaotic suburbs. A pair of brothers rob a bank, and the handsome older brother escapes with his mentally disabled younger brother. But on the way there were various surprises. First of all, because of the greed of the brother, the staff of the threatened bank had the opportunity to put red smoke bombs in the money bags they robbed and called the police. In the process of escaping, the younger brother fell behind his elder brother, accidentally hit the door of cheap glass while running, and fainted in the glass slag. The police caught him. In order to redeem his younger brother, the older brother took the stolen money to the black market, but investigated that the younger brother had been transferred to the hospital. So he went to the hospital to save his brother, but he didn't expect to save the wrong person. Mistakes make mistakes, a series of mistakes happen, and finally lead to catastrophe. The rescued prisoner stayed with his brother.

The colorful lights, drugs, sex, money, violence throughout the movie make the darkness behind it even darker. Pattinson's character is also a very good performer in the film itself. The role of the elder brother is very smart, has high emotional intelligence, and is quick to respond: when he will save his younger brother in the hospital, he is not in a hurry; he injured the caretaker at the playground, and did not make the police suspicious when dealing with the police by pretending to be a staff member . He knew all that his beauty could bring him. He is a very controlling person, so he is surrounded by people who are easy to control: a rich woman who covets his beauty, is willing to give him money to rescue his younger brother, but is in the dark because of a quarrel with his mother. When I clicked on the transaction, I found that the card was suspended; an adolescent girl who had not seen the world very much, she was eager to grow up and become mature. Her previous boyfriend was a drug dealer. My brother could see clearly what these people were looking for in him, beauty and approval. So the so-called love is just mutual use.

We can see all the struggles of a person living at the bottom of society in the cosmopolitan city of New York. All his acting talent, high emotional intelligence, but ultimately his self-destruction. He is trying to live a good life with his brother and go to another country to start over and live a good life. But people's fate seems to be doomed. He can only spin around, return to his own stratum, and be punished if he tries to overstep. Just like the sentence of the prosecutor at the end of the film, the theme of the film is expressed. Your brother is where he belongs, and you are where you belong, and you will all live well. When it comes to punishment, the best representative should be the man his brother rescued from the hospital. He was the first scapegoat to be sacrificed. Just released from prison, he got involved in a case that had nothing to do with him for no reason, and got into a taxi during the escape. He honestly told the driver, "I just got out of jail, and I'll give you money when I get home." The driver was furious and said he was going to take him to the police station. Because of his nervousness and fear, he finally chose to jump out of the car with a speed of up to 60 kilometers per hour. Disfigured and rescued by accident. Next, when his brother was arrested, he chose to escape along the window, but he accidentally fell to his death.

Two bad points, but also quite controversial:
The first is when the bank robbery: my brother chose to let the cashier go to the warehouse to get more money. Didn't he know there was an alarm system in the bank? Didn't he know this was giving the cashier a chance to call the police? Maybe this is also a reflection of his cleverness. He was tempted by money for a while and a half, and he was negligent. Or maybe even though he is smart, his smartness is still limited by his own.

The second is the end of the film: the younger brother was sent to the education base for the mentally handicapped group. In the classroom, the teacher guided the students to walk from one end of the classroom to the other if they had done what she mentioned. This is an exercise in self-awareness. Let’s also do the most basic training for training students’ emotional expression. The younger brother kept walking back and forth in the room, and the film ended in such a scene until all the thanks were broadcast. This way of dealing with the ending gives the whole film a sense of guidance towards social education. But this expresses a direction chosen by this realistic film. At first I thought it would be better if the screen went black, and then put all the lists and credits on top of that, so that the story would end neatly. But why can't the director make such a choice? Let the realism of the story continue to the end, the brother does not appear, perhaps suggesting that he will spend a long time in prison (do not know if robbery is sentenced to death in the United States, the law needs to be studied), but the younger brother It is innocent and needs the continued attention and care of this society.

Something to ponder:
How will the old woman see the world again after being woken up by an overdose of sleeping pills? When she met this man at night, she greeted him kindly and wished his brother a speedy recovery. But it's a pity she didn't meet a kind-hearted person. In order to survive, the so-called conscience and moral code can be left behind. What the elder brother loves the most in this story is his younger brother, like a reflection of his broken heart. The person he wants to protect the most, the person he wants to fulfill the most is his younger brother. In other words, what he wants to protect is the most vulnerable, softest part of his heart. At the end of the day, perhaps all these adventures are in the pursuit of a complete self.

The older brother stayed with his dog at the end. The dog helped him when he was in distress and bit the man who estimated him. But he escaped, completely ignoring the dog's life and death. What will the dog do after he is caught? Especially when it is abandoned in the owner's choice, and the dog has long recognized that his owner is him all his life.

The news of crime is constantly playing on the television. The news media is constantly reporting violence. Without higher education, people who have learned a certain sense of judgment are only constantly brainwashed. When the brother and the little sister said he was hungry and looking for something to eat, the little sister suggested to him the chicken nugget in the refrigerator. I remembered seeing a few black kids eating fried chicken wings when I was taking a bus in New York's chinatown to visit Washington. There are plenty of fried chicken wings in New York that are also very cheap. In today's society, it seems that vegetarianism and healthy eating have become a way of life that only middle and upper society can have. So the chicken nugget episode is a good reflection of a part of the social situation in which the story takes place.

The color scheme and music in the final film are really good, I was attracted by Haibo at first. Of course, such a good realistic presentation is also thanks to two very talented actors, Robert Pattinson and actor and director Ben Safdie.
