I finally found the resources to watch this film made by Jolie. Rather than a feature film, I feel more like a documentary, revealing that period of history from the perspective of a little girl. I was very interested in the Khmer Rouge before and watched some books and movies. Julie's is quite restrained, not so cruel to the Khmer Rouge. From the perspective of a child, I think it is understandable. It was lively at the beginning, and then became numb, and there were some transitions in the middle, but it can also be understood that the brainwashing of the Khmer Rouge turned the child into a robot. Even when the father left, the little girl's reaction was very calm, which was a bit inconsistent. Common sense, but also understandable. In the end, when the little girl escaped and saw that the mines and traps she had planted at the time had hurt her compatriots, this section performed very well. This forbearance set off the cruelty and stupidity of the Khmer Rouge, which is worth reflecting on.
