The movie is super ugly. The script and rhythm are like shit. However, when I saw the Martian appear, I was still in tears... The tears were clear orz, I remembered that the teacher used to play "Man and Nature", and I was the only one in the class crying, which was very embarrassing... But this has to be separated. Come on, The Martian is junk, that's right...

1. The point I want to express most in the whole film is that "human beings originated from Mars", which is just a sci-fi stalk, not even an idea. But just for this stalk, the creative team directly sacrificed the plot. If you want to make memes like this, it would be better to make a fake documentary. Please don't pretend to be a story movie.

2. The plot actually has room for salvation. The main line is: "The astronauts discovered mysterious things on Mars, which caused all the members to die, and only one member remained on Mars. Everyone planned to go to Mars to rescue the only survivor. The rescue process was extremely thrilling, and then everyone discovered the origin of human beings. Secret." - that sounds particularly exciting, right? Full of action, thriller, and adventure survival elements, with such a commercial potential, the effect can be so boring. Still the same problem: the creative team sacrificed story for meme.

Mission to Mars quotes

  • Luke Graham: Come on - three commanders. One ship. I don't think that's gonna work. There's not enough rocket fuel in the world to get those egos off the ground.

  • Woody Blake: Okay, people let's look sharp now. We're gonna run this simulation one more time. If we overshoot, there's no coming back.

Phil Ohlmyer: Yeah, and drifting through eternity will ruin your whole day.
