Seventy-nine-year-old doctor Isaac Burley was finally awarded an honorary doctorate after decades of devotion to medicine and drove to Toronto. Along with him was his family. On the way, when Isaac learned from his daughter-in-law that his son actually hated his selfishness, he was shaken, sitting on the lawn by the roadside and began to forget himself about his boyhood, and also thought of his first love, cousin Sha pull. Isaac, who had woken up from the fantasy, looked at the girl and two young people who looked very much like Sarah standing in front of him. They were full of youthful vigor. Isaac realizes and complains that he ignores love for the sake of learning. Time passes by, and the beautiful youth and love are gone forever. After they arrived in the city of London, although the award ceremony was very grand, Isaac's footsteps were very heavy. That night, he had a childhood dream. The still young and affectionate parents, the beautiful and peaceful nature, made a smile appear on the face of the sleeping old man. Through memories, hallucinations or dreams, the loneliness that keeps appearing and disappearing in the mind of the dying old man is described very coldly and thoroughly. The film is an old Stockholm medical professor's review of his life. The plot takes place on his way to receive an honorary degree at his alma mater, where he graduated 50 years ago. He uses multiple flashbacks to show various fantasies and memories. He was in the car with his daughter-in-law, who had already decided to leave him because her husband did not want children. On the way, they stopped at the former residence where the professor grew up as a child, as if they were back in their youth, and saw the girl they liked picking strawberries for their deaf grandpa. He was woken up by a girl played by the same actress who wanted to take the two boys for a ride, and then nearly got into a car accident, so he had to take a couple in the other's car, only to be kicked out of their way get off. Halfway through, everyone got out of the car for dinner and discussed whether God exists. Afterwards, the car came to the professor's 95-year-old mother's house, who complained that it was too cold. In a fantasy scene, the professor enters an old mansion and must prove he deserves the award, but he doesn't succeed. In the real world, a professor goes home after an honorary degree and calmly accepts the people and events he has had conflicts with.
