A story doesn't have to be a linear narrative. Sometimes putting a few previous scenes behind can turn an otherwise mediocre story into a completely different one. "Reservoir Dogs" is a successful example of this, and Quentin also put flashbacks. It's a common practice in his films. So is this film. The non-linear narrative technique disrupts the original coherent story sequence into several seemingly scattered stories, but after the final story is finished, we realize that the whole movie is actually a lock, and the last few scenes of the movie are the solution. The key to this movie, you will be amazed when you hold this key to open this lock.
