The biography of the founder of the CIA, the whole film gives people a feeling of depression. The director who came out at the end of the film was actually Robert De Niro, which was a bit surprising. Both the overall tone and the progression of the storyline are shrouded in darkness and secrecy. Edward's life was greatly influenced by his childhood. For loyalty, he sacrificed his love and family.
There is deceit everywhere, and the people around you are untrustworthy. A word that is leaked inadvertently may lead to the loss of the whole game. Along the way, Edward witnesses various betrayals. Fathers, mentors, secretaries, no one can trust. The leaker of the Pig Bay incident was actually his own son. In order to protect his son and to keep the handle in the hands of the enemy, he directly killed his daughter-in-law. What a miserable life has been. No family, no friends, only eternal confrontation, and eternal darkness.
