There are some more profound points that other movie reviews have written well, so I won't mention them. Write some superficial and rough understanding and share with you
For a long time I didn't know what kind of movies I liked, and it seemed difficult to define the next genre I liked. Until I saw this: Cracks. Maybe I just like this kind of British-style obscure pictures and suffocating soundtracks, as well as a little bit of pretentious literary films that are vaguely understandable. women's play.
The first time I saw this movie should be in high school, to be honest, I didn't feel much. At the time, I just thought it was obscure and difficult to understand. I couldn't understand many clues that I knew were hinting at the psychology of the characters, and the long film reviews also discouraged me. Looking at it again is intoxicating.
Part 1 Overall view
In the opening scene, Di and Miss G were sitting on the same boat on the water. Di looked at the teacher on the opposite side with admiration and intimacy in his tone. Miss G is smoking a cigarette while discussing literary enlightenment books with her most proud student so far (from the back, it looks like a sexual enlightenment book that is forbidden to be read in girls' boarding schools haha). The sky is a cloudy but clear feeling unique to Britain, and the water is full of ripples. Continuous green grassy slopes. The background music that melts into it (great) is accompanied by the sound of water. I don't know if the director is a woman or not, but this mood is particularly appealing to me.
Di and Miss G discuss a book, and some clues about the characters of the two can be seen from the following paragraphs. They all yearn for a free, fresh and less imprisoned world outside the boarding school. They feel that their thoughts are above everyone else, and the old girls in the school are just some people who are being eliminated by the times.
After the title of the film appeared, a piece of Christian poetry was introduced into the soundtrack of the film, and Miss G's footsteps slowly cut in. This director is really provocative. When Miss G came towards the camera, I thought, this woman is really arrogant and at ease. Di's eyes on Miss G before Fiamma appeared once made me think it was their teacher and student lily film.
When the girls practiced basic diving skills in the heaven, Miss G educated them, and she could clearly feel the difference between her and the female teachers of that era, as if she was a clear stream of new ideas.
When Fiamma came, I was really unhappy. It seemed that in this school under the cloud, everyone was hiding a lot of secrets. The tone of the review has a crisp clean gloom throughout. Look it over a few times, and everyone can tell a story. Here we start with a few of the more important figures.
Part 2 Character Analysis
Number One: Miss G. The opening and first half of the entire movie are enough to make you fall in love with this stunning-looking woman. She has been teaching at a boarding school. She is beautiful, generous, confident, and open-minded. Different from the rigid and harsh Mama Sang, she has traveled around the world in the past, has rich life experiences, and is good at guiding students. She is already the goddess in the hearts of the best swim team students in this school, and has formed a very stable personality cult. As the film slowly unfolds, we can understand that she is actually a sad and cowardly deformed product under the boarding system of a girls' school who cannot escape in a world of self-inflicted obscenity (oh, many attributives seem to be cultural), if she has anything What can be appreciated is that she has a rare and invaluable idea of constantly looking forward to the outside world and bringing these visions to the students, although these are all to satisfy the psychological desire and vanity of the self. I always remember that when she went to the school archives to peek at Fiamma's materials and was seen by the principal, Xiao Zhang took out a group photo of her when she was young, and when the audience revealed that she had been teaching at the school and never left, Miss G's face was guilty and frustrated. In fact, my real life is so bleak it is not worth mentioning. After watching the movie, I think Eva Green is Miss G, a character so nervous and weak that it makes people a little scared and a little distressed. I have a big feeling that there are many types of people like Miss G in life. We all believe in seemingly authority, and we all have difficulty distinguishing people's hearts. By the way, I like Eva's shady little eyes the most oh hoo hoo hoo
Number two: Di. I hated this character the first time I saw it, but the more I watched it, the more I liked it. She is very alive. He was obviously very mean and bitter, followed blindly, and always bullied his classmates. But she always thinks of the whole swimming team first, being the captain is very handy, and later she also generously took the initiative to show her favor to Fiamma. She is bold, strong, always protecting others, but also jealous, all love and hate are written on her face, so she will be used for Miss G, leading to Fiamma's death. Even so, she is much braver than Miss G. She found the teacher's unbearable, decisively broke away from the authority she had always relied on, left the school, and went to find her new life. And Miss G found his next home, still remembered that the bedside ornaments cannot exceed the stipulated five. She never got rid of the imprint of childhood, even though the life in her mouth was so vivid. If there is one word for Di, I believe it is brave.
Number three: Fiamma. This is really a simple and beautiful woman hahaha. It really looks like a kind princess. She was wrong because she didn't know what to say. But St. Agnes Eve's makeup that day was really nice. From now on, I love peacock eye shadow.
Number Four: Poppy. I have always found this character setting quite interesting, and she actually has a lot of details on her micro-expressions. There is always such a character around us in life, maybe you are one. Her status in the swimming team is equivalent to the vice team, and she has always been very obedient to the captain Di, and even acted with a wink at her. Miss G asked what is the most important thing in life (Wang Feng: what is your dream) when they were training, she answered "death", what a typical answer of flattery and ingenuity. She is actually very beautiful, with golden curly hair and classical facial features, and finally understands that she hopes she can break through the shackles of her own life.
Part 3 Fragments
The whole film can be observed from many angles, such as the decay of the boarding system in girls' schools, the true and false of human nature, courage and cowardice, the topic of homosexuality, the connection between religion and modern science... I watched the original version and the translated version after watching the film. The novel, the movie and the novel are very different. Some film critics have mentioned that it was not the teacher but this group of students who killed Fiamma in the book. It was very cruel. The movie focused on Miss G and let her take the responsibility Evil. All are amazing. If you like movies, you must read the books, because the two are different and lively.
European films that tell the stories of the early years inevitably involve religious matters. At the beginning of the film, everyone sings the Christian poem "All things bright and beautiful" in unison. With the solemn environment, it is really touching.
One more word, I repeatedly mentioned the moving soundtrack of "Crack" in the previous article. The soundtrack is by Spanish creator Javier Navarrete. Just based on this playlist, "Crack" is enough for me to remember it for a lifetime. Up to now, domestic film and television dramas have improved in everything, even the soundtrack, which still needs to be discovered.
At the end, I want to ask a question. In the class, the teacher asked Poppy to read a poem by Shelley about the pharaoh Ozymandias.
In the end, the above are all personal opinions, welcome to discuss and learn from each other. Attached is a beautiful still of Eva.
