The Red Turtle is a work that is more symbolic than logical. There are many plots in the movie that seem unreasonable, they are more like set up to express a behavior or process, although I have to admit that this is where the director's control fails. And whether or not to take that seriously, I think that's where movie reviews polarize. The extensive use of long-range lenses gives the film an atmosphere of emptiness and loneliness as a whole. To reinforce this point, except for a few curious crabs, the other animals in the movie are solitary individuals, or they are grouped in a wider environment, which highlights their isolation. Although it is a realistic painting style, except for the protagonist in the picture, almost all of them are separate color blocks, the yellow beach, the blue sea, the green bamboo forest, the boundaries between each other, from the strict and dense long. The clear distinction between the bamboo forest and the sandy beach together is evident. The rendering of this kind of atmosphere is not so much a service for the story, but a stronger expression of the director's personal style.
