On the coast, in the peaceful town of Crosby, grumpy Olive Kitteridge has a 'nice Mr.' husband and a son who is estranged from her, and life may seem turbulent, but Undercurrents surging.
In the town, Olive also acts as a passer-by in other people's lives, consciously or unintentionally: a melancholy youth who wants to commit suicide, a young girl suffering from anorexia, an unmarried woman who has been playing the piano in a bar for several years... These hungry and dreaming people are struggling between desire and loneliness. She looked at the world with a cold eye, and chewed on the loneliness and embarrassment of life with extra sobriety.
