"The Pianist at Sea" is worthy of being a classic film. It shows us the life of a man who was born on a boat, grew up on a boat, died on a boat, and lived only for the piano. He cast all the light of his life on this boat, short and poignant. The protagonist's (named 1900) love for the ship may be similar to our nostalgia for our homeland. Born and raised in Sri Lanka, the homeland gives us life and everything in life, and this ship also gives him all the value and emotion of life. In real life, some people may be reluctant to leave their homeland for the rest of their lives, even though the land is barren, desolate, and even full of danger, even though the outside world is colorful and full of gold and silver, they never leave their homeland. For 1900, an orphan whose whole world is this ship, this is his home, all his joys, sorrows, dreams, passions. It can be said that his feelings for this ship are deeper and hotter than anyone else's. So even at the last minute, he still wouldn't choose to leave. In the last paragraph of the film, there is a monologue of the protagonist, he said that he would not go, not because the buildings he saw on the board made him feel afraid, but because he could not see the end of the world. Yes, the keys of the piano have a beginning and an end, and the deck of a ship has a beginning and an end. He can play infinite music with a limited keyboard. He can control this "limitation". Here, he is him. As for this world, there is no beginning, no end, intricate streets, dotted with high-rise buildings, there are too many paths to choose from, and he has no way to control it. Take control of his life, his emotions, his music. He can only choose to live in a way that he can choose and control. This way is free from competition, calm and comfortable, and is not disturbed by fame and fortune. If there is a way of life that he cannot control, he would rather not! I think this may be the second reason why he didn't choose to leave. His inner loneliness, music can be seen, just like his language, he uses it to describe his life and express his emotions. There is such a scene, at night, in the reception hall of the ship, he played, the piano swayed the ship from side to side in the hurricane and the waves, on the smooth floor, in harmony with the rhythm of the music, from left to right, sometimes in circles, Sometimes slides. He has said that his music is inseparable from his people, so he refused to release film of his music. The music, the boat, he, is "one" and can never be separated. The ship's life was over, and it seemed inevitable to believe that his life was over. This may be his third reason not to leave. The deep nostalgia for his family, the choice requirements for the way of life, and the common life that has long been integrated have contributed to his tragedy. But is this really a tragedy? Just like a drama comes to an abrupt end at its climax, life recedes at its peak, lovers embrace each other and enter into marriage, we have seen the most perfect scene, and then what? Watching operas is gradually boring, life gradually goes downhill, love is buried in countless family trivia after marriage, this is the most real world. His death shook the hearts of each of us at least. None of us could imagine how such a genius who stepped off the ship began his ordinary life and began to become vulgar and boring, chasing fame and fortune. We can't bear to see it here, and the director naturally won't have the heart to shoot it here. So in a sense, this may not be a tragedy.
