Can't escape the old days

I don't know why I finally watched this, it was a bit depressing like today's weather. Little-known depression. In the end, it is about the death of Tolstoy station, but there is not much Russian feeling, the characteristic British voice and the colder narrative.

What a pure and flawless love when they were young, and the unparalleled happiness when they got along with each other in their early years, but they still can't escape mutual torture in the end. Does everyone have to go to the end alone? Can only continue to open up a new life until it falls?

Life is really complicated and realistic, not everything can be solved with love, ideal and free material are just one straw after another. Although Tolstoy and his wife may have loved each other until they died, it is difficult to judge the forgiveness of torture.

"Your youth and your desire for happiness cruelly remind me of my age and the impossibility of happiness for me." But you really should cherish the people you love.

I would rather give up the wisdom of superman, give up the admiration of thousands of people just for ordinary and true love. The subject matter is great, and the story is too dramatic. As a biographical film, there is no problem with the director's point of view, but the characterization (especially the "villain") is quite disappointing.

The Last Station quotes

  • Leo Tolstoy: "Your youth and your desire for happiness reminds me cruelly of my age and the impossibility of happiness for me." When I was courting Sofya, she was so young and pure, it seemed impossible that I'd ever have her. I didn't want to tell her how I felt and I wanted to tell her nothing else. So I wrote down a string of letters and asked her if she could decipher them. She looked completely confused, thinking it was a game or... I gave her one clue. The firs two Y's, I said, stand for "your youth" and then the most miraculous thing happened. She simply spoke the phrase, my phrase as if she had read my mind. In that moment, we both knew we would always be together. For those first years, we were incredibly happy, terrifyingly happy.
