"Conventional" makes a good story a "chicken rib"

When I first saw this movie, I had a little bit of chicken jelly, thinking it was another "Schindler's List" or "Life is Beautiful", but the goose——

The first few pictures are still very beautiful, and the lens and light are also used well. All kinds of animals are running, walking, or being intimate with the heroine. I seem to have seen the first few scenes in "The Fantasy Drifting of Youth". screen.

The protagonists of the story are three, the zookeeper couple Yang, Antonina, and the German Heck. Originally they were good friends and both liked animals, but because of the war, Heck became a German officer and his friend became an enemy. At this time, the director and his wife decided to secretly rescue the poor Jews.

Such stories and characters should be very dramatic, but unfortunately, they are broken in a routine.

After watching the movie, I realized that the story is true. The movie is based on the non-fiction novel of the same name. The Chinese version of the following book has just been published. It is estimated that I want to catch the heat wave of the movie release.

Original Chinese version leaflet

First of all, I have to say that the scenes of animals and children in the movie are the most difficult to film. This movie takes up a little bit of it, so it is a test of the director's skill. Regrettably, these two aspects of the scene are generally filmed. After the zoo is bombed, and the animals are transported away or escaped, there are basically not many animal scenes. It is said that it was converted into a pig farm, and I can't even see the footage of feeding the pigs, and I don't know where those pigs are. The children of the principal's couple are like puppets, and they are not even as interesting as puppets, which makes people think they are coming to play a horror movie.

In comparison, Antonina and Heck played fairly well, but the director Yang was a little weaker, and his expression was always very dull. If you don't know the real situation, or you haven't read the original book, you may think that the relationship between the three is like the one in the movie. The film vividly depicts the ambiguous relationship between Antonina and Heck. Of course, this ambiguous relationship is a relationship of love-forced, forced-humiliation, that is to say, the screenwriter and director follow the dramatic routine of ordinary movies and want to describe it. Heck first had a bad idea of Antonina, and then took advantage of the situation to wipe Antonina's oil. In order to cover the Jews, Antonina was worried about exposing the hiding places of the Jews. Aroused the suspicion of her husband Yang. Later, after her husband disappeared, Antonina took the initiative to find Heck in order to find him, and prepared to sacrifice herself in exchange for Heck's help.

In fact, there are many plots and clues in the original book, which are more vivid, shocking and impressive than the adapted movie. The director wants to create an Antonina with a conflicted heart, and a Heck with the unity of good and evil. This idea is normal and conventional, but in a movie based on the prototype, it is necessary to think twice. The approach of a brilliant director is to deviate from the usual way, try to be faithful to the original work, and shoot this shocking story in a way that the audience does not expect.

English original cover

It's a pity that the director chose a "cliché", thinking that all movies have to be shot like this. If so, ruin a masterpiece.

If you first look at films such as "The Fantastic Drifting of Pi", "The Pianist at Sea", "Out of Africa", "The Beautiful Legend of Sicily", "Beautiful Life", these films could have become the director's textbooks and reference editions. Any of the above narration methods can make a beautiful movie, not a "chicken rib".

I didn't see that it was a female movie at all...Why call the director's wife? The director has done a lot more... The plot is so good and the actors are so good, it is unbelievable that the filming can be so boring, it is such a waste
