This is a sentence that came to mind after watching "Midnight Encounter" before taking a nap.
Two people whose life has fallen to the bottom and cannot see a way out, are bound together by a series of seemingly misunderstood reasons. You say, what tied the two people was the stolen Prada wallet and the broken mobile phone? Or are two lonely hearts inexplicably wanting to get closer?
Some time ago, I saw a recommendation from Magic. At first glance, the name "Midnight Encounter" thought it was an old movie. For someone like me who can't wait to get a little bit of life from movies and novels, watching old movies takes time to gather courage, so I keep thinking about it but always wait for the timing to open it. I'll admit I'm quite academic and prefer mainstream chicken soups like Oscar.
Those who yearn for love smell a strong taste of love in "Midnight Encounter". About encounters, about exes, about betrayal, about marriage, and about affordability. In short, if you search with purpose, you can always find what you want. The film reviewer said that this film is a parody of "Before Sunset", I don't really like movies with such short timelines, it's like I'll never have the patience to watch my dad, my ex, and my roommate's favorite house comedy, and I always feel the camera Too close, too much to express, too depressing. So, imitation or similar, this is not the focus of my attention. What I want to write has not been completely sorted out in my mind, so let's talk about it according to the three key words of "encounter", "trough" and "rescue".
"Encounter"
There are no two identical leaves in the world, so is it safe to guess that there are no two identical encounters in this world? I believe the latter. The encounter at Central Station is something that people who travel through the city every day will experience or witness more or less. But there are only a handful of stories that can develop such a story that can be put on the screen. In my opinion, this is a carefully planned fate that has been brewing for a long time. Behind the seemingly natural interlocking is a painstaking effort out of the hand of fate. This is true for Nick, and it is also true for Brooke.
"Encounter" is purposeless, completely unexpected, an accident, a surprise, a gift in a boring life. Maybe it's when you are about to give up your love beliefs, maybe it's when you're stuck in the quagmire of life, or maybe you've learned to enjoy loneliness and no longer long for love to give you a thick shoulder. Therefore, "encounter" is somewhat miraculous, like winning the lottery. You don't need to care about the result or the amount of the prize. Just close your eyes and enjoy that moment, which will be enough to reminisce for a long time. The encounter between Nick and Brooke was not a glimpse of a gorgeous dress in an idol drama, nor a smile from a cute heroine in a Japanese drama, but two frustrated adults bumping into each other's hearts. This "encounter" is uncharacteristically full of Violent despair and hysteria. If I were Brooke, what would I do to Nick? If you were Nick, would you still greet him with a good temper? I have talked about three paragraphs, and only the second one can be considered as "encounter". The casual encounter in the restaurant is a moment that I am still willing to let myself indulge. Don't obliterate the "encounter" that belongs to you because of the trivial details later. After all, there are too few people who can have a story with you.
"Low"
From the discovery of her husband's infidelity to the unbearable running away from home, from breaking up with her beloved girlfriend six years ago to the upcoming goodbye six years later, Brooke and Nick have been walking in the low period that once made us feel disheartened and even despaired. I want to see here that many people have found clues about themselves in them. For a time, all those complicated emotions that have been turned over and over again and the inner drama that had been rehearsed over and over again were staged one after another. The feeling of powerlessness that is desperately trying to find an exit but can't escape, the repeated pain eats away the dopamine and endorphins that have been squandered in our body bit by bit. It seems that there is no hope in sight, no sense of the meaning of life, and it seems that the feeling of happiness is getting farther and farther away. It's like sinking into the bottom of an icy lake, struggling with all your strength but still can't catch a life-saving straw. Like being ruthlessly thrown into the forest and snow, there is nothing but cold, loneliness and fear. What is not breathless is that anyone who has experienced it knows that no matter how long the trough is, there will be an end one day. Just like the last scene of "She's Lonely Than Fireworks", Jackie returned to her childhood self at the end of her life after her short and splendid life, and said softly in her ear: "Everything is going to be ok.”
The only person who can "save"
yourself can truly save yourself.
Escape is useless but also shameful.
Brooke and Nick finally seem to understand this. I don't think Brooke saved Nick, or Nick saved Brooke, they were just a timing for each other, a Miss/Mr. Right sent by God to wake you up. So at the beginning, it is said that this is an encounter that God has been brewing for a long time, because everything has a deadline, it is time to end the mess of the past and move forward. I don't know if they will meet again, although the possibility seems more than 99.9%, but one thing I can be sure of is that after this night they are no longer the dazed Brooke and Nick yesterday, this night is destined to be Nothing but a fresh start. Since then, they will remember each other with a smile. Even though they are thousands of miles apart, there is nothing to be timid about knowing that there is such a presence to accompany him.
