Not about "dual personalities", but about the struggle between "existence" and "uniqueness"

Like most viewers, I was misled by the title and watched "the Double".
At the beginning of the film, it shows its unique shooting style, suppressing the dull and claustrophobic living environment created by the dark overall tone and soundtrack. What makes me a little impatient with the wrong expectations for the film is that such a "bland" life tone turns out to be the overall rhythm of the whole film, and this submissive and non-existent little character in front of me did not directly interpret the completely different. Character status, at least the first 1/4 of the movie.
The first part of the film introduces us to the basic situation of the hero Simon James. The first half of the second part narrates the appearance of James Simon, who is exactly the same as Simon James, and Simon's contact and exchange of identities. It also created a stain for him, exposing the ugly nature of James. The third part, Simon fights against James for "existence" and "oneness".
Simon is a small employee in a company. He has worked here for seven years, but he has no sense of existence. He is like a transparent person. It seems that his information cannot be found in the company's system. He stopped him and recognized him as a guest, but his boss couldn't remember who he was. It seemed that only his mother thought about a person like him. He goes to work regularly every day, and such a "stiff" person gradually shows his "cuteness" - he is weak and disciplined, but down-to-earth and has ideas, he has excellent mathematical strength and completes it seriously Work, dare to put forward his own thoughts to the boss; his behavior is rigid, but he has a delicate, sensitive and kind heart. He is aware of the company's rigid rules and regulations and a life like a walking corpse. He wants to fight and change, but his strength is weak and eventually submerged. , When witnessing another male employee committing suicide and discovering that Hannah committed suicide because of James' abandonment, he took immediate action (call the police or send him to the hospital). The girl Hannah, and pay attention to her words and deeds, attentive and willing to give, her sentence "I got ear studs" immediately made Simon make a pair of elegant ear studs in exchange for the only small TV in the house. He will do as much, pay attention, and contact her as much as he can, but he just doesn't have the courage to show her love. He wanted to change his Confucian weakness, but he didn't have enough confidence and courage. Facing the daily life without a sense of existence, he was eager to fight in his heart, which "brought out" the intersection with James. What he didn't expect was that the end of James' hand-to-hand teaching and opportunistic development was to take everything that Simon should have, and Simon finally got up and fought under such oppression, facing James's love for his beloved. Playing with abandonment, unfair evaluation by colleagues, and proactive neglect of him finally erupts, and it culminates at the point where James impersonates him to attend his mother's funeral. At this time, Simon discovered that he was physically connected with James, and later "destroyed" James by suicide, saving his life and seeking the value of unique existence.
It is necessary to talk about my personal understanding and thoughts here. I don’t agree with the translated title of “Dual Personality”. Although there are many ways of expression in a film describing multiple personalities, after watching this film, I think The director's point is not to explain that Simon is a mentally ill patient with a dual personality. It can be said that this film has little connection with the subject of mental illness, but is more philosophical and realistic thinking. The narrative style of the whole film belongs to the surreal and absurd school, so in fact, the plot is not as good as other conventional films. Yes, that's why there are so many people with the same appearance, each of which seems to make sense but contradicts each other. There are many ways to appreciate the film. The focus of this film should be on the emotional sound and picture, the rendered atmosphere, rather than the rational plot. It uses a lot of retro shooting techniques, long-frame stagnant pictures and montages. The editing, coupled with the appropriate soundtrack and the excellent performance of the actors, exaggeratedly show many fragments and nodes similar to the real world, reflecting the true repetition and long life, work, and social status; in terms of the plot, the film also shows " "Absurd" logic, if Simon and James are simply regarded as two personalities of one person, many things before the physical connection at the funeral cannot be reasonably explained. After all, there are too many two people who are different at the same time in the company. events that are going on, and therefore are more inclined to see them as two sides of the development of things.
The ultimate purpose of the film is to expose the life and production status of the chain-type machinery that lacks vitality in the current society - is my life so monotonous and rigid? How can I make changes to fight the negative forces outside and within myself? Inspire people to think again about the themes of "existence" and "oneness" of lifelong exploration - what is the meaning of my existence? Where is the value of life? Is my life irreproducible in the vast universe or can it be easily replaced and forgotten?
This film is worth watching, I hope everyone can realize something from it that they are looking for and craving.
