Tom found his family, but they had lost their homes and became a gang of refugees.
When Tom met Kathy again, Kathy was plotting to strike, and that night Kathy was beaten to death by the manor's butler, Tom suffered a head injury, and he was forced to leave his family to escape the police.
As he said goodbye, his mother asked him, "How can I find out about you? They're going to kill you, and I don't know how you died. They're going to kill you, and I don't even know anything."
Tom Answered: "Maybe as Kathy said, a person does not have a separate soul, he is just a small part of a larger spirit that belongs to everyone. So... so it doesn't matter. I'll blend in. Darkness, I will be everywhere. Wherever you can see, where there is a struggle, so that hungry people can have food, I will be there. Wherever there are policemen beating people, I will be there. I will be there. I'll be where people roar. I'll be where the kids laugh and when they're hungry they know dinner is waiting for them. When people eat their own food and live in their own houses, I'll be there There."
Mother: "I don't understand, Tom."
Tom: "Neither do I, Mom, I've been thinking about it."
Tom said, "That Casey, he's a pastor, but he takes things seriously. He's like a beacon, quite clearly. He helps me figure things out." Indeed, in the movie, the most memorable image is not Tom, but Casey. He asked himself what the Holy Spirit was, and he said, "Maybe the Holy Spirit is love. Maybe there's no good or evil, just people doing their own thing. If someone gives, I praise them, but I don't mean it." Insights from those who are enlightened and almost touch the truth. Casey said, "Tom, you'll figure it out, just like I'm trying to figure it out now. I haven't figured it out yet. That's why I can't be a pastor anymore. A pastor should understand. But I don't. I To ask to understand."
Cayce was half right, the Holy Spirit is love, but not the worldly love he meant it to be—family, friendship, love, but what Jesus meant by forgiving love, what Buddha meant by compassionate love. Or, He is the "Great Spirit" of which we are all part.
