The fascination of a dystopian society

A dystopian sci-fi movie. Unlike Godard's "experimental" films, it is a veritable big-plot film. However, the meaning of the dialogue explanation in this film is often more important than the performance of the camera and the characters, so watching this film feels like reading a novel (it may also be because of the bad subtitles of the video I watched...). As for the storyline, it is true that the background of the world view is extremely huge, but the storyline is not complicated, but I feel that the ideology of this film is higher than the storyline, and there are some unreasonable parts in the storyline (even if the dystopian world view is absurd, But the absurd world also has its rules of rationality). This film is easier to understand among Godard's films, and I personally like it better.

Godard said that sound can be independent of video, especially music. "Music has its own life and world. Like a car or street, it is a living element." Music and video are paralleled in counterpoint. Music can even negate video. Music comes from the outside world". Alpha’s soundtrack and even the dialogue and images in it are almost detached. The central processor called Alpha 60, the mastermind of this fictional city, makes people feel like they are in a nightmare. The sound played a very important effect in the film, of course I am not saying that the picture is no longer important. Bold jump cuts, expressiveness of actors looking directly into the camera, negative film effects, and other special effects. I still tend to think that Godard's film deconstructs the world of experience and deconstructs Orpheus. To sign

    1. Emotion and language are the foundation of human civilization, and all fascists take control of these two as their own responsibility. 2. Science fiction or ideology is similar to Truffaut's "Fahrenheit 451". 3. Detective films or film noirs are not neat, because they have Godard-like jumps.

Alphaville quotes

  • Alpha 60: Everything has been said, provided words do not change their meanings, and meanings their words.

  • Alpha 60: Once we know the number one, we believe that we know the number two, because one plus one equals two. We forget that first we must know the meaning of plus.
