The taste of chicken soup from a sci-fi movie

This is a sci-fi movie, and the plot does not seem to be very new, similar to "Terrorist Cruise" and "Butterfly Effect".

Most of the first half of the film uses a flat and straightforward way, you can't tell what kind of movie this is at all, maybe you can't find out that it wants to tell the story of a multi-dimensional world and multi-dimensional space. The male protagonist's father's research has found a conclusion - people will go to life after death. Then many people, knowing this advice, want to commit suicide and go to another life. But the male protagonist was skeptical of his father's research. On his way back by boat, he met the female protagonist Ella. After meeting the heroine, the hero and heroine fell in love with each other.

Later, the male protagonist met the female protagonist who was going to commit suicide at the beach, and then the male protagonist rescued the female protagonist and brought her back to the institute opened by his father to take in people who wanted to commit suicide. It turns out that the male protagonist's father has not thoroughly researched whether people have an afterlife, but he invented a machine that allows people to see the scene of the afterlife when they are close to death. But they wanted to find a dead person to do the experiment first, so they stole a corpse from the funeral home, but during the experiment, the male protagonist secretly destroyed the experiment machine, making everyone think that the experiment was unsuccessful. Later, the male protagonist secretly went back to the laboratory alone and repaired the machine, but found that an amazing scene appeared on the monitor, and he really had a memory.

Then he followed the memory to search and found the hospital in his memory. Later, he secretly told the conclusion to the heroine, but the heroine told him that the man in the memory picture did not completely match the man in reality. Later, they found the man's sister along the scene in their memory, but the man's sister told him that the scene in the picture did not happen.

Later, the male protagonist's father, in order to prove that his machine was not broken, experimented with himself. As a result, they jointly researched and concluded that when a person died, he did not die, but would return to the one he had always remembered and regretted. At the moment, I will change the things I did not do because of negligence or carelessness.

Just when the male protagonist's father wanted to announce this conclusion to the world, the woman who had been kicked out before shot and killed the female protagonist in order to come back. The desperate male protagonist ran to the laboratory, connected himself to the machine, and found himself back on the boat that met Ella when he came here. It turns out that this is not the first time to return to this scene. Every now and then, he would come back here and think here to change the fate of Ella's death. So he failed every time, so he fell into an infinite loop. One last time, he went back to the beach, rescued Ella's son, and the whole show was over.

To be honest, this is not a very attractive movie. It is a flat and straightforward narrative for too long, and then it starts to reverse in the next ten minutes. After watching it, people understand, oh, so the movie tells such a story. It turns out that when a person dies, it is not the end of life, but will return to the moment when he has always regretted wanting to change himself, to change his destiny. But life is not perfect after all, no matter how you change, there will always be those imperfections.

I think this is not so much a science fiction movie as it is a movie about thinking about life. He told us that there are too many regrets in life, and there will always be a lot of mistakes at an inadvertent moment. Enough to make you regret your decision for the rest of your life. We always want to go back to that moment, to go back to change our lives, to make up for our regrets. In movies, we can die, but what about reality? Perhaps although the movie has the appearance of sci-fi, it is actually a wake-up call to cherish every moment of our life, make every choice, and try not to leave any regrets for ourselves. After all, life is only once, and we cannot pass the way to make up for your regrets.

The Discovery quotes

  • Thomas: Do you accept the fact that time is a nonlinear illusion created by man?

Isla: Pass. I don't know what that means.

Thomas: There are no right or wrong answers to this questionnaire.

Isla: Then why do you bother giving it?

    Thomas: That's a good response.

  • Thomas: [to the assembled group] We're programmed to process our experiences as having a beginning and an end, when, in reality... doesn't exist. It's just one long, drawn-out middle.
