When we meet in this life, we may all shoulder the mission of the past life.

This is not a romance, not a thriller, but a drama that makes us think about the philosophical proposition of death.

If there really is an afterlife, and it must be better than this one, will it be like the beginning of the film, whether social elites or small people would rather choose to "go there" and go to a better place?

William's father believed in his own theories, obsessed with new experiments, and seemed to be a mad scientist, but such an extreme approach was more likely to be a form of self-salvation (about his wife's death).

William, who didn't quite trust his father, found that the experiment was a success. Although the conclusion is not as expected: the afterlife is not better, but to make up for the regrets of this life.

When Isla died, William lay in the experimental machine in order to meet his beloved again. When he met Isla again, he learned the "real" truth about the afterlife: the afterlife after death is not like living a complete life, but will repeat in a cycle. At the end of the film, the male protagonist's father said that he would rescue his son. After the countdown to 123, the picture did not return to the laboratory, but the male protagonist was standing by the sea, so the male protagonist should not "survive". He rescued Isla's son in "Reincarnation".

Note the wording here: reincarnation.

Is the hero at this time alive or dead? unknown. Regarding this life, the next life, and reincarnation, what are their forms? Is there no living or dead at all, but just a change in physical form? unknown.

Our encounters in this life may all shoulder the mission of the previous life.

The Discovery quotes

  • Interviewer: Death used to be something we just had to live with, and now it's a convenient way to escape pain. That's okay.

Will: That's okay? Another plane of existence, maybe. Who knows? But I look around, I see a lot of people jumping out of planes hoping they're gonna grow wings. And reality and fantasy are mutually exclusive. They don't exist in the same space.

  • Lacey: Please don't lose faith in me.

Thomas: "Faith" Oh, God. I have such contempt for that word. Show me someone who relies on faith and I'll show you someone who's given up control over whatever it is they believe.
