Why wasn't this book taken in the 1970s?

I'm too lazy to search. At first glance, there should be original works, and the age of popular themes should be almost in the 60s and 70s. It is strange that this book was not taken when structuralism was rampant in the 1970s. If it was shot 30 years ago, it would undoubtedly be a classic. In this day and age, I don't quite understand what it means. Of course, director, you are happy.

The performances of the actors are very good, but it sets off that Dowson is a bit out of place. Trembling is pretty good as himself. But he is not suitable for this kind of film. Whether it's body shape, looks, body language is too contemporary. In this type of film, the actor's personal style should not be too good.

I would have given this 4.5 stars 10 years ago. Now just want to give 3.5 stars. Aesthetic fatigue.

I deducted one star because the degree of licking the screen was much less than expected...

The director is very confident in putting the nude scenes of Hidden in the front, and he will add one star for this alone.

High-Rise quotes

  • Laing: [on Wilder] He's probably the sanest man in the building.

  • Richard Wilder: Doesn't it seem odd, Laing? That a man can fall from the thirty-ninth floor, and not one police car turn up? Where's the investigation, Laing? I mean, where's the sirens? Laing!
