To the trapped beast in the heart

In 2008, I went back to Zhejiang University for a month, and I had nothing to do as I do now, so I borrowed a library card from a classmate who was studying for a PhD at the school and stayed in the library for a day or two.
At that time, I turned to a book on musicals, and a book that was not too thick basically talked about the development of musicals. It can be seen that the history of musicals is very short.

Of the four major musicals, the Phantom of the Theatre is the most well-known, followed by Cats, Miss Saigon and Les Miserables. Some people have heard them, but most of the music in them should be unimpressive.
The Phantom of the Opera originated from a novel written by Frenchman Leroux in 1911. I bought this book some time ago but I haven’t read it yet. Despite this, there have been numerous adaptations of it in the film industry over the past 100 years, and most of them are based on horror as the main style.

On the contrary, the two domestic songs in the middle of the night have been changed very well. I have seen the black and white film before liberation, and even the disfigured Song Danping laughed hoarsely at the camera, which was really scary.
In 1995, Leslie Cheung's version was changed to be very romantic. At that time, the technology of making ghost films in Hong Kong was very mature. It can be seen that he was very familiar with the shaping of dark atmosphere, so I think that the focus is on the warm side, relying on Leslie Cheung's music. , Li Manting's words, and the performances of several literary and artistic youths, that film became the most tender film in the adaptation.
In the 1980s, Weber turned The Phantom of the Opera into a musical, which is the main reason Leroux's novel became famous. As far as the plot is concerned, the novel is a bit empty, but the musical just makes up for the lack of content, because the core of the musical is music, and music only needs sincere feelings, not complicated plots.
Since then, the Phantom of the Opera has spread all over the world like wings.

I've watched the video of the musical "Cat", except for memory, I really can't remember any other music, even halfway through, I told myself to hold on, at least to get memory to sing.
But the entire music of The Phantom of the Opera is memorable.
For example, the grand opening, the beauty of Think of me, the soul of The phantom of the opera, All I ask of you showing affection, and the loneliness of Music of the night
Before 2004, this show had a place in musicals, even in music. The status of the world is already very high.
But Weber is not satisfied, he wants to put it on the screen to realize (the ending is to destroy) everyone's imagination of the picture.

But at this time, the starring of Christine, that is, Sarah Brightman, who Weber originally created the show for, is no longer the goddess of moonlight. She has become a standard aunt, and she and Liu Huan can sing together. It's quite right, it's really difficult for her to play the young and beautiful christin.
So the crew found Amy Rosen, who had played the day after tomorrow.

Well, the first point of the trolls is here. Many people dislike Amy's bad singing, but comparing her to the original singer is indeed too much. She is only an actor after all.
The second spray point is that the plot is too monotonous. We have already said this before. The flaw of The Phantom of the Theatre is originally in the plot. Movies are different from musicals, and the requirements for conflict are still very high. After all, The Phantom of the Theatre is a The self-reliant and talented silly boy sees the story of the person he loves being taken away by the rich family. You see, I don't want to sum it up in two sentences.

As for the picture, I do think it's a bit bad, especially for a person with claustrophobia, watching them walk to the sewer instead of the grand palace, but I feel a little panic in my heart.
Either way, the film further expanded the popularity of The Phantom of the Theater. Those who didn't know it came to know it, and those who knew it didn't hate it for it.
I've always treasured this CD, and I do like Weber's unleashing soul expression. As the lyrics say, everyone has a phantom in their hearts. It is a trapped beast formed by besieging ourselves and besieging ourselves.
Webber wrote a new song for the 2004 movie version as the ending song. Many years later, he wanted to tell that phantom, and also every trapped beast in our hearts, how we should deal with ourselves.
The song's title is: Learn to be lonely.
