It took me a long time to finish watching this 155 minute movie

Give four and a half stars, the strengths and weaknesses of Ray Charles are really shown. He did not shy away from his lustful and drug-abusing shortcomings, but he could also see his emphasis on family and his admirable willpower.

There are two parts of the whole movie that amaze me the most

The first one: the appearance of Mess around means its successful transformation. Listening to Mess around in the album of the same name is far less shocking than the movie screen.

The second: Hit the Road Jack appeared. He found inspiration in the quarrel and directly touched the piano and played it out. The harmony maggie, even with anger, can't deny the attraction of music to him, even if the voice coming out of his mouth is angry Trembling, but still keeping up with ray. This can be said to be very testament to why ray and his team have succeeded, their love for music has been extraordinary.

Jamie Foxx's acting is so good, there's nothing to say about it. I missed half a star because some parts of the movie were too rushed, or I really hope that the movie can mention where a very important character like Jeff ended up.

All in all, a very recommended music movie. A must-see for fans and a must-see for blues soul lovers.

Ray quotes

  • Oberon: You know, Marlene and Gossie's the ones running the game on you, Ray. They sliced up the pie the first night you played. Thirty-five percent off the top. Plus Gossie's double scale as leader.

Ray Charles: Leader. If anyone's leadin' the band I'm the leader! You know what? Forget the bohumps. I'm goin' my own way.

Oberon: Who's gonna book your gigs? Marlene's got you locked up and she ain't about to let her golden goose go.

Lady in Rain: [singing] Straighten up and fly right. Cool down papa don't you blow your top.

    [Speaking]

Lady in Rain: Ray Robinson you are fan-tastic.

Oberon: There you go man. Gimme some skin.

Ray Charles: [Feels card in his hand] What's this?

Oberon: Jack's card. I got his number at the hotel

  • Jack Lauderdale: So Ray, we got to talk about your name, man. Robinson. I mean, Sugar Ray got to Robinson franchise all sewed up. So I'm thinking we go with your middle name: Charles. As in "Ray Charles."

Ray Charles: I don't care what you call me, man, just as long as my name is on the record.
