Simple and casual

Seriously off-topic movie review. The movie itself is very good. I gave it five stars because I especially like the atmosphere of the family gathering together and the casual way of getting along in the movie. When we meet, simple words are good. The wind rushes to the beach, dances sasa to music in the early morning, and performs a little show similar to the tongue knotting cherry stems... I can't help but recall the party at the Chinese wine table, forced awkward chats, forced toasts, all children brought Compare each other, and then say toasts with a smile on your face. At home parties, women cook in the kitchen, men wait outside to eat, women wash dishes, and men watch TV outside. If we compare, we can’t say which country has the best family atmosphere. The family plays mahjong and poker together, peers play werewolf, and it’s interesting to take selfies with various software; what’s more, a movie also responds. Nothing. Wine table culture and foreign parties are completely incomprehensible to me, and the wooden house in the movie is my ideal world - everything is simple, casual and real.

Dan in Real Life quotes

  • Marie: [Entering laundry room where is Dan seated on a cot] What was that?

Dan Burns: [rises from the cot] I couldn't... I couldn't stop myself.

Marie: What am I supposed to do now?

Dan Burns: You can't do anything. He's my brother.

Marie: [stifling back tears] Why did you sing for me?... Then?

    Dan Burns: Because I... I'm

    [now shaking his head]

Marie: [reciting passages from Dan's book] Page 92. "Did I just die? Because an angel walked into the room". Page 148... uh..."I'll forgive you your past if you'll forgive me mine.". It seems all his best lines were yours. It's unbearable. I... I can't keep pretending.

    [Marie leaves the laundry room]

  • Dan: [all together in the car] I think your sisters aren't very happy with me.

    Lilly: Duh!

    Dan: Why do you think?

Lilly: You're a good father, but sometimes a bad dad.
