Lilliputian Adventures

I know there are movies, but I still insist on watching the movie after reading the book, for fear that the fixed image of the movie will imprison the imagination of the text story. After watching the movie, I just want to say that it is fortunate that I have read the original first. "Gulliver's Travels" was originally written by the famous British satirical novelist Jonathan Swift. The story uses irony and absurd writing techniques to tell the bizarre experiences of the protagonist on several voyages, to satirize the social and political life of Britain at that time. In the novel, Gulliver came to the country of Lilliput, the kingdom of adults, the kingdom of Feidao, and the kingdom of Huiliang. The common points of these countries are that the king has strong leadership ability, profound knowledge, unique political thought and ability to manage the country. The king of every country is Gulliver who understands his country's political system, parliament, parties, laws, military, war, etc. The political management of several countries in the novel mirrors the imperfections of the British state system, either positively or negatively. But no matter which country it is, there is no complete harmony. There are some ironies in parties, wars, and selection. And Gulliver finally arrived in the Huiliang country, which is a complete ideal country. They have a complete set of governance systems of their own. Everyone obeys them. However, the shortcoming of this country is that it is not developed, it does not understand the outside world, and after listening to Gulliver's narrative, there are many doubts and contempt. There is no language in our country, so there is no culture. This country is the society that the author finally yearns for and returns to. It seems to explain to people that the development of society and the harmony and perfection are contradictory and cannot exist at the same time.

The film "Gulliver's Travels" mainly tells about Gulliver's experience in Lilliput, the film has changed a lot, and the time, background and events of the story are completely different. The story in the novel takes place in 1703, and the protagonist is a sailing doctor. The story in the movie takes place in modern times. The protagonist is working as the lowest-level starter in a newspaper office. For ten years, he has not achieved any success in his career. In order to show himself in front of his crush, he agreed to go to a state in Bermuda to study and write a manuscript. The plot of the story is also relatively old-fashioned. The ship was destroyed by the wind and waves when he fell asleep, and the person rushed to a strange country. When he woke up, he found that he was captured by the Lilliputian country. The story of Lilliputian is basically different from the original. Except for peeing to save the fire and helping the king to win the war with the enemy, the movie has extracted the introduction of the story, and the rest are all re-directed. In the film, the king's talents are not displayed, and politics are not discussed. Instead, many modern elements are added, such as setting up billboards, empathy for marketing, and rehearsing the story of the drama... These are the novel parts of the film, which are closer to In modern society, it is also easy for the audience to accept. The theme reflected in the film is also different from the original. The film does not involve politics at all. Instead, it caters to the needs of the public with the perfect love that everyone is keen on and the victory of the villain's battle, which is contrary to the original intention of the original author. The end of the film ended successfully with joyful singing and dancing, and the music used was more in line with the theme reflected by the director, that is, there is no war, everyone is harmonious and happy, and it seems to coincide with the theme of the original work. In the film, a small part of the scene of Lilliput is added, which I personally think is meaningless. It does not develop a new storyline, nor is it related to the story of Lilliput. It is purely redundant shooting. It would be better if the film should be called "The Adventures of the Little People", and then the stories of the four countries will be made into four parts. That's the best way to go.
