A rare good film, even now, it is still very sharp.
When our mainstream values are no longer honesty, kindness, and integrity, but take the ugliness of society as nature, can that be called human progress?
Just watched How to Read a Book and thought back to Charles Van Doren's Final Confessions in the movie, so good! I also thought of the final treatment of the movie, with the laughter of the audience in front of the screen as the background, great irony!
Those who sincerely repented in court were cast aside by the society and lost everything; and the manufacturers who were arrogant and pretending to be innocent ended up still full of pots, and they were eventually re-produced by the black pot and became millionaires.
(Ralph Fiennes did a great job!!! Also, the lines in it are designed to be very cohesive.)

Thinking about the era of stupid music and the credibility of the media, the significance is equivalent to today's radio and television to rectify If You Are the One. The film focuses more on the description of inner struggles and emotional context, showing a tight tension, and several leading actors have dedicated performances with a sense of hierarchy.

Quiz Show quotes

  • Charles Van Doren: I'm just trying to imagine what Kant would make of this.

Albert Freedman: I don't think he'd have a problem with it.

  • Dan Enright: He blames Charles Van Doren for his downfall. And of course, the real downfall of Herbert Stempel has always been Herbert Stempel.

Albert Freedman: Herbert Stempel, absolutely. Well, you met him. Does he seem stable to you?

Dick Goodwin: Well, I definitely have an inkling of what you're talking about. He told me this whole story about how when a Jew is on the show, he always loses to a gentile, and then the gentile wins more money. Right? I mean, who could dream up a scheme like that?

Dan Enright: A symptom of his Van Doren fixation!

Dick Goodwin: The thing of it is... I looked it up. It's true.
