Writers, please respect your character.

This film, I originally watched it as a suspense drama
turned out to be an ethics drama.
The whole film is well conceived, and the acting skills of the actors are really good.
But in the whole film, what bothered me the most was that the murderer imitated Soo-yeon's words at the end.
"I have a reason to live.
Because I have your child."
At that moment, I felt like I was hit.
I even prayed for a moment that the murderer had a little bit of humanity and let Soo-yeon live, even with the murderer's child.
but none.
Can a person whose humanity has been completely wiped out still be called a human?
Is this the ability of a screenwriter? This is the writer's world, right?
Torment the protagonist to the point where it can no longer be added.
However, I don't understand the smile of the protagonist at the end.
Is it okay to kill the enemy?
After seeing the watch that Xiuyan gave, is it okay?
Did monitor Cui forget that Xiuyan was pregnant with this person's child? And this watch was also worn by the murderer?
Even, wearing it for ten years.
After living together for two years, I have had a subtle relationship. If so, can it be forgotten?
Perhaps the final outcome should be that Squad Leader Cui has lived in entanglement and pain all his life.
But it may be too cruel to describe it like this, but isn't this the right of the screenwriter?
Since you have tortured the character to the limit, please do your best and give him a real reaction, instead of letting him show his final sadness.
In this way, I will recall the words of Soo Yeon in the film.
This kind of sadness is probably the sadness of Xiuyan at that time.
