Maybe it's because of the relationship between my recent state, what I see are relatively pessimistic things.
Most people read it and sighed Lena's great love. Indeed, a little girl must have a deep love to put herself in such a dangerous situation without hesitation. As she said in the note to the captain, sometimes people just need to break some rules. She knew that entering the base alone would be a crazy or even lifeless move, but she did it without hesitation. Such love is great and selfless. When the only goal is to be with the beloved, nothing else matters.
On the other hand, Daniel is really not a character that I like. Upholding human rights and joining the ranks of the front line is certainly a supreme act, but when he fulfilled his dream, he never thought that his actions would bring trouble to those who love him. Throughout the film, I felt Lena's unreserved love for sacrificing herself, but I didn't feel Daniel's love for Lena at all. When they got a tip and were about to escape, it was because Daniel wanted to take a few more pictures selfishly that they were caught. Even when he finally escaped from the base, his first consideration was not to protect Lena's safety, but he still wanted to take more evidence, so that the evil deeds of the base could be exposed when he escaped. Falling in love with such a man, I really feel bad for Lena. He will always have more important things, and she has never been in his priorities.
Heroes emerge from troubled times. Perhaps the world needs heroes like Daniel who can sacrifice everything. But this kind of hero who is built on the safety of his own life and the life of those who love him is really unlikable.
