To die for the country is the destination that every soldier has ever fantasized about. However, what is the significance of dying for the country? Maybe no one can really tell.
2015 is the 70th anniversary of the victory of anti-fascism. At this point in time, many war movie projects have been released or launched in various countries. Perhaps the time interval is getting farther and farther. In the past two years, the batches of World War II-themed films have less sensationalism and exaggeration, and more restoration and reflection on history.
[Ape Action] begins by citing fragments of many historical materials, interspersed with subtitles that introduce the background of the film. From the very beginning, the film has laid a solemn and chilling tone, and every audience is believed to be brought into an atmosphere of a historical drama. After that, the words "adapted from real events" are like a curtain of Shakespeare's tragedy, and the story unfolds slowly.
This sense of restoration is the basis for the quality of the film to be on the level line. The tone and atmosphere of the whole film are always dim, and there is lingering depression. The sense of the times in clothing and architectural style is also part of the overall sense of substitution.
It can be said that the basis for the success of the film is this "truth". But the war in the drama itself cannot be "real".
Although the opening of [Ape Action] stated that it was adapted from real events. But director Sean Ellis's famous work is [Sleepless in the Supermarket], a naked "otaku" work, which restores the facts step by step, not like him at all. What's more, the target of "Ape Action" was the young, brutal and relatively mysterious Reinhard Heydrich, nicknamed "The Butcher of Prague" in the German fascist government.
This movie is based on real events, but no one clearly understands the real situation. For Sean Ellis, this is another sexual obscenity, but this obscenity has nothing to do with men in the middle of the night. Fengyue is the ideal of a man's sunshine. No one can completely ignore life, but almost every man has the lust of killing the enemy on the battlefield. Sean is generous, and he gives the protagonists a perfect ending - keeping the last bullet to himself. This tragic romance, in the light and shadow of the water, went to the extreme when the illusory Anna Gaislova walked towards Killian Murphy, and it also hurt the hearts of many moviegoers.
At the end of life, you can be dominated by yourself and have the "accompaniment" of your loved ones. Then, what's so scary about death?
It's a pity that romance will not be the key word of war after all, just like [The Silence of the Sea] and [French Suite] can't have a happy ending in the end.
The romance of [Ape Action] is nothing but a cape that slips off the shoulders of a conspiracy at any time. This action was doomed to tragedy from the very beginning.
Sure, Heydrich was notorious, but why was he assassinated? Will this rule change if someone else comes along? In the movie, Sean raises this question through the mouth of the fake character. The answer, of course, is no. The 5,000 Czech men, women and children who were slaughtered in revenge is the bloody proof.
As a fascist leader, assassination is easier said than done? During World War II, so many times about the assassination plan of the leaders of both sides, which one is a successful case? It can only be said that Joseph and Zhan have been abandoned sons from the beginning, so they don’t even know the new contact person. It doesn’t matter whether the assassination plan is successful or not. What matters is the response of Germany. Just a legitimate reason for the UK to ruin previous agreements.
In fact, Joseph and Zhan are not unaware of their own destiny, they are just trying to paralyze themselves in different ways. However, Joseph, who comforted Zhan many times before the assassination, had an unexpected setting during the assassination, showing the sadness and helplessness of the two protagonists in a subtle drama. Fortunately, the goddess of luck sentenced Heydrich to death, leaving the assassin's name in the annals of history.
