It's not just a sensational story

It's been a long time since I watched this show. It's probably been on the hard drive for a long time, and my rewatching isn't limited to the indescribable parts of the first episode. However, the first time I felt really touched by the plot was after watching it for over a year.

At first, I thought that maybe I, like everyone else, felt a little sad about the lingering story of Xiaoben and the genius boy in the story. Especially in the bar, when the singer on the stage sang the heartbreaking Japanese nursery rhyme, the second season is coming to an end, and the audience seems to be able to feel: the background color of this show is gray, that kind of melancholy Like the thick paint on the singer's face that cannot be melted.

But maybe this time, I feel a little confused. When I was strolling the streets of London, like an ordinary tourist, admiring the overly bright lights around Tower Bridge, a man dressed like the genius boy in the play passed me. I had a flash of light.
It's not just a sensational story, and even the director didn't waste too many shots on the relationship between the two. This is a story of "change" being told.

Xiaoben, before he met the genius boy, was just an ordinary London youth and post office clerk who was addicted to alcohol and parties. He can even describe his life with words like mediocre or abysmal. He was a little lonely. Maybe it's because after his youthful indulgence, he, that identity is somewhat special, and some are lost in life. Clearly, the identity trait of being gay has no special meaning in a society as diverse as the UK. He is also just one of the mediocre and mediocre of all living beings.

When the genius boy first entered the life of the protagonist Xiaoben, he was just one of those people who insisted on running in the morning or at night on the streets of London. The plot is to give the characters different backgrounds later, so that they can use their own identities with each other, so that the story can be legendary. All the roles have changed because of the love at first sight between two ordinary people on the street.

Of course, we can also discuss the genius boy's avoidance of his gay identity. But this also means that meeting Xiaoben undoubtedly changed his monotonous life. He was mired in unhealthy family relationships, in the conspiracy of intelligence work, in the threats he spun for himself. He is simple, even idealistic, eager to use his genius to make the world stop lying. However, the appearance of Xiaoben changed his somewhat puritanical life. I don't know how joyful it is to experience physical pleasure for the first time, but in the conversation between the two male protagonists after the incident, what I heard was not the tiredness after each other's pleasure, but a lonely soul. Geniuses may be doomed to be lonely because they are extraordinary. . However, the appearance of Xiaoben has brought his life to talk and joy, as well as recognition and communication.

For Xiaoben, the encounter with the genius boy is just the beginning of his seemingly ordinary life.

A long-lost friend who has been with us for many years turned out to be a retired former agent. His life seemed to be mired in a lie. And the truth, until he got the small combination lock, he still didn't know.
The process of deciphering may be thrilling and exciting for the audience, but for this character, it is a bloody fact.

Maybe Xiaoben already knew about the death of the genius boy, and that's why he was in the attic. The moment he opened the box, he watched the moment that rolled to his eyes, and he couldn't calm down.

The former agent, who used to live a prosperous life, also fell into a huge crisis because of the meeting of two young people. Perhaps, he is suffering from depression because he is not satisfied with the repetition of life. Or, under the huge shadow of the disease, he was already tired. It's just that cowardice that won't allow him to stand out until he is swallowed by conspiracy.

As for Xiaoben, because of his obsession with the truth, he gradually learned how to deal with the agents. His life has obviously been quietly changed.

The last scene is particularly profound. Xiaoben took the gifted boy's mother to leave the manor where he lived for a long time, and went to London to tell more people the truth of the story. She also finally got out of a conspiracy, especially in the half-life misfortune that this conspiracy brought him when he was young and the awkward mother-son relationship with his son.

We are so mediocre every day, maybe we just need a long-lost meeting to give life a little unexpected change.

On the 11th night of the 9th month of the year of Bingshen, in the rain, I rushed to write.
