the price of sin

Maybe it’s because of my lack of awareness and life experience, or because my attitude towards criminals is still extreme. Even after seeing Matt’s fear of death and his final repentance, I still can’t sympathize with him, and think that the only way to execute him is to execute him. The best way to punish crimes is to comfort the relatives of the victims.
Assuming Matt hadn't been sentenced to death, perhaps he wouldn't have admitted his guilt in the end, or would have pushed the blame to the outside world, slammed everything that wasn't pleasing to the eye and avoided his own mistakes. To a certain extent, the psychology of criminals is very powerful and distorted, and the criminals sentenced to death are even worse. I don't think they will truly repent until the end of their lives. And even if they repented, they could not make up for the torment of the victim, the lost soul, and the pain of their relatives.
Of course, criminals are also human beings, and they have the right to be respected. It is understandable to grant them litigation rights and even spiritual relief, but they should also pay the price for their sins. If you want your soul to be redeemed, then don't commit sins in your next life~
