about love

I've actually been wondering why so many works of art have love as the theme, or a love story as a thread to connect the whole story. Up to now, I haven’t thought about it clearly. The views on love vary from person to person and from time to time. Few people can consistently live with the same concept, just like you are constantly discovering and knowing yourself in life. treatment of a particular subject and attitude towards a particular subject will also change over time. Woody Allen's film conveys that idea. When love happens, it may be true or false. To a certain extent, it is just an accident, a coincidence, the important thing is that there is only one, at this moment, what do you want, follow your Heart, love or not love, as long as you are happy.
Woody Allen is good at lines. This is a director who is secretive but not annoying, and even transcribes it with gusto. His lines are always on point, sarcastic without being mean. And the classic image of the old man who is responsible for saying what he wants to say is so infinitely three-dimensional and vivid. A director full of personal qualities is like a self-composed singer, you will always think that his melody is the same, but because of the art form of the film itself, this consistency will not appear monotonous, it will only be firmly remembered The director himself. Woody Allen has done a great job at this point. Of course, a director's work with personal qualities can only attract people who like his qualities, and this crazy old man did a good job, at least his name was so loud.
But this film doesn't stand out in Woody Allen's work, which is why I only gave it 3 stars. I watched the film twice before and after, and after watching it, I always felt unimpressive, and this feeling was because the film itself did not have the intention of triggering emotions and thinking deeply. From the perspective of the development of the plot, the way of talking to the camera is indeed rare. I can only say that there is no mistake in the application here, but it does not add points to the film itself. Except for the protagonist, the characters are not all three-dimensional. Of course, the relationship between the characters is complicated and there is not enough time to deal with more details, but this also prevents me from remembering any person in the film.
In general, Woody Allen's views have always been relatively broad when it comes to love. He seems to be able to accept everything. Also, what is unacceptable? Human beings are the most complex and changeable creatures, and the relationship between people is the most complex and changeable relationship. Love itself is the most vivid and vivid.

Whatever Works quotes

  • Leo Brockman: You know, I have to say, even with a text book right wing mentality, your mother-in-law has beautifully shaped breasts.

Boris Yellnikoff: You know, you-your a man of learning, of cultivation, of aesthetic sensibility, this is what you take away from all that school prayer hokum and my country right or wrong? Her bosom?

Leo Brockman: Its not just her bosom! Her behind is also beautifully contoured.

Boris Yellnikoff: Well, I'm sure you'll have no problem getting her to bed. She's vulnerable. She's stupid and she's been abandoned. Personally, I lose all erotic inclination when the woman's a member of the National Rifle Association.

Leo Brockman: It's pear shaped. Degas used to distinguish between an apple shaped behind and pear shaped. And I'm a big fruit eater.

  • Marietta: [Walking up to a wax figure of Donald Trump in Madame Tussauds Wax Museum] Oh, sweet pea, sweet pea, this is the kind of man you should be married to. Not that communist who sings happy birthday every time he washes his hands.

Melodie St. Ann Celestine: How long are you staying, Mom?
