The Dangerous Method: A Bland and Obscure Story

Dangerous Method/A Dangerous Method

After watching the movie, the plot can still be clear, but perhaps this psychological theme causes me to have no idea what they are talking about when they talk a lot of dialogue, even staring at the subtitles and actors. They didn't even look at their expressions, or they didn't quite understand what they were saying. So I think that for ordinary people who don't know much about related majors, this movie can't be considered a "must-see", and it won't cause much thought after watching it.

But it's not a bad thing to know a little more about the very famous Freud and the not so famous Jung and Sabina, and it's also good to see the long dialogue between Viggo and Fassy and Vincent with soy sauce. The scene where Jung keeps eating is so cute, ahhh it's cute anyway.

Although I could see that the movie tried to explain the collision between several psychology tycoons in simple terms, I was still a mess, so the focus of watching it all stayed on the actors. Fassy has a facial paralysis as usual. To be honest, the whole film except Keira Knightley has facial paralysis throughout the whole film, and Keira also kept a crazy face for the whole movie. I also don't have much ability to judge whether several of their performances that are completely unchanged are good or bad, but looking at the lack of drama, combined with the incomprehensible themes, the whole movie seems very bland. Maybe Fassy's films and roles are relatively bland. Unlike James, basically every film has some parts that make people want to cry. His characters have more inner dramas and less revealing. Keira, some people commented that she was a little neurotic in normal roles, and she seemed to go too far in roles with mental illness. I heard Keira and James interviewed each other during the atonement promotion period. I thought her voice was a bit too high-pitched, but in this one, it was a little lower. Maybe it was the role of the Russians? Viggo and Vincent don't know much about them. They have only seen one of their works and think they are all good.

A Dangerous Method quotes

  • Sabina Spielrein: [Sabrina is discussing her studies at medical school] When my father brought me to you I was very ill and my illness was sexual. It's clear that the subject I'm studying is entirely grounded in sexuality so naturally I'm becoming more and more acutely awake of the fact that I have no sexual experience.

Carl Jung: Law students are not normally expected to rob banks.

  • Sigmund Freud: I think perhaps you should entertain the possibility that it represents the penis.
