——Understanding the "Sabbath Day" in the third episode of "The Ten Commandments" "The
Sabbath" is a holiday prescribed by God, and the biggest holiday is Christmas; "Keeping the Holy" means that we stop working, Respect the Lord with your family. If you strictly abide by the commandment of "keeping holy on the Sabbath", you should not leave your family on Christmas Eve and stay home all night. Episode 3 of the movie "The Ten Commandments" (Dekalog 1989) seems to tell the story of the violation of this commandment. However, when we think about the fundamental purpose of these holidays (Sabbath, Lord's Day, Sunday, etc.) created by "God", perhaps we don't think so. During the holidays, people can let go of their jobs and do what they want, but whatever it is, to a large extent, it is just to relieve loneliness. Therefore, we can understand why God requires human men and women to form a family, and the main form of observance is to be with family members, because "home" is the best harbor for human beings to escape from loneliness. If it is said that "keeping the holy" has the purpose of obeying God's command to send loneliness, then the behavior of the hero Janush helping the heroine Ava to "find a husband" in this episode is not necessarily a behavior that completely violates the commandment of God. Moreover, by the end of the episode, we find that Janush not only helped Ava to relieve loneliness, he also became her savior, and from the perspective of "God loves people", his transgression was not much improper.
The connection between "loneliness" and "home" is presented at the beginning of the film. The lonely homeless man keeps calling for "home" even when he's drunk; the orphaned science believer (the hero of Episode 1) is looking forward to someone else's Christmas dinner to show the desolation of his home. Indeed, loneliness will make people long for home, and at the same time, the lack of home and the resulting insecurity will deepen the loneliness of human nature, especially in festivals where thousands of families are reunited. Of course, having a place to live does not mean having a home, but a place with family members is a home. So, when Ava is lonely and can't get rid of it, she tries to find a family, at least a lover who is willing to accompany her, because the lover is only one step away from the family. She first found the aunt who may have raised her, but she was estimated to have Alzheimer's, because she still asked Ava about her homework when she was a teenager. Although she was awake for a while, she quickly fell back asleep. Spend this Christmas with Ava.
So, Ava turned her attention to Janush, her former lover. When she finds Janusz, she is not only looking for someone to accompany her for a long night, she is looking for "love", not only in the past, but also in the present and the future; ordinary friends may help you eliminate loneliness, but a lover can relieve loneliness and bring The feeling of coming home, because only lovers are safe listeners, especially when something needs to be said.
On the surface, Ava and Janush have broken up, but judging from the fact that she dared to find him on Christmas Eve and he was willing to come out to help, their relationship in the past was extraordinary; when her lie about finding her missing husband was suspected ( Because there is no snow on the top of the car), but he still accompanies her on the street, looking for wayward excitement; when her lie is finally seen through (because the razor is dull), he is not only not angry but willing to continue to accompany her "Look" down; she tells about the dream situation, which is just proof of love and hate, and in response, he also solemnly explains to her what true love felt three years ago; in her apartment, in front of the children who appeared out of time, they Willing to play a pair of people who love each other. The above pictures seem to show that she has found the feeling of "love". However, the real relief of loneliness is to provide an outlet for resentment, which was revealed three years ago. The extramarital affair that the two of them "played" three years ago seemed to be broken by her husband on the spot, but in fact it should have been the result of the "victim"'s whistle-blower; Her trap, this night gave them a chance to confront and clarify. If we don't consider the immoral factor that they hurt innocent people, we might as well think that "clarification by confrontation" is also a proof of "love". In addition, she told him what she had nowhere to say for many years, and because of her waywardness, she became the biggest victim of that disgraceful incident.
Although he is like a lover, although there is still love, but Janush is more restrained, he will not let it continue, he can only give Ava a short-term feeling of love, but with this feeling, she is enough to resist The erosion of loneliness. Although Ava finally said with dignity that she just wanted to play a game, this was just an excuse for her. After all, finding warmth in front of a former lover is not a glorious thing; since the game has been successfully played, why bother Admit that she might be knocked down by loneliness? Obviously, she didn't treat him as an outsider. (Text/Slate Planting Flowers Sunday, August 14, 2016)
