Relatively good version, greatly beautified Heathcliff

This version still reflects some of the advantages of the original, and overall it is considered to be the better version of the film and television version. The length of the film and television version is limited, and the story of cutting off the second generation is understandable.

The biggest difference from the original is the character of Heathcliff.

In the original book, Heathcliff is the villain who perfectly blends soulful and wild tyranny, which is extremely impressive. His greatest evil was the abuse of innocent Isabella and the torture of the next three, including his own son. But this version cut off all the stories of the second generation. After Isabella married him, I didn't see how he abused her, but she didn't love her very much, and her life was not very good. Even at the end of the story, the two of them were still together. It was the husband and wife, not as in the original book, she escaped early and died.

Therefore, it is relatively obvious that this version of Heathcliff is a normal man who is affectionate and has some revenge at the same time.

Catherine is average. It is said that she has a very bad relationship with Lawrence Oliver, but it is more suitable than the 92 version of Binoche.

William Wheeler's version... The actors are basically in line with the original image, Oliver's performance is brilliant, and Oberon's charm is lacking. Just watching the movie is still a touching love sketch, but half of the plot of the original book is cut off, and after the revenge chapter is deleted, there is not much of the loyalty and paranoia of love left. The most characteristic dark and gloomy atmosphere has been greatly diluted, losing the core charm. Add a cliff "castle" and farewell, and the studio set is rough. (6.5/10)

Wuthering Heights quotes

  • Dr. Kenneth: Hindley, why don't you hit yourself over the head with a hammer when you wake up every morning?

    Hindley: Why?

Dr. Kenneth: Well, if you do, you'll achieve virtually the same results as you do with a bottle of whiskey, with much less wear and tear on the kidneys.

  • Cathy: No matter what I ever do or say, Heathcliff, this is me - now - standing on this hill with you. This is me, forever.
