In 2016, one person watched it again.
Of course, what I see now is not what I saw when I was a teenager. I didn't understand anything at that time. I guess I watched it as a sex education movie. .
In fact, I like this ending. A family of three eats poisonous fruit to "euthanize". It's a sad ending, but it's very beautiful. Imagine if it was a family happily ever after, it would be a little boring. Some people say that the actors are too young and have no acting skills. I feel that their innocence, childishness and human beauty are all captured.
Especially at the end, Richard (who has been wondering how to give such an old-fashioned name to such a good boy) is holding the fruit, Emmeline (I really like this name) looks at him, and the two exchange looks quietly, saying a word Before it was made, this decision was made - death. Richard's hand tightened and finally loosened. The love and reluctance in his eyes and the anxiety about what was about to happen were all revealed, very natural and touching.
Reminds me of Jack in another "Blue Sea and Blue Sky", who is also such a person. He wants to be with nature forever and not to live what we call "worldly" life. For them, it's pleasure, not pain, and yet people call them freaks.
People have forgotten that this is what human beings are.
Only we who have been transformed by modern civilization will find this kind of story surprisingly sad. So I guess this kind of movie can only be made for those of us who have become boring.
Movies show us a world that we can't reach. In the current world, we have to think about how to live, how to make money, make useful friends, get a good marriage, earn more money, and raise children. What makes humans live like this, away from nature? Probably because we only think about ourselves.
Back to nature, can we find our source, forget a little of our ego, and gain a little more happiness?
