Act 1: Alex (Hugh Grant) is an out-of-date pop singer in the 1980s. In recent years, he finally got more performance opportunities, and was invited by the pop queen Cora to write a song and sing it. But at this moment, Alex has encountered a creative bottleneck. He has not composed music for many years, and has never had any experience in writing lyrics. Now he has to make a best-selling pop song in a few days.
Just when Alex was very troubled, he met Sophie (played by Drew Barrymore). This beautiful girl is proficient in using words, and the lyrics she sang casually made Alex very satisfied. After many invitations, Sophie agreed. Work with Alex.

Act Two: But Sophie is stuck in a previous failed relationship. She used the experience of a previous relationship to write a fragment of the lyrics and was successfully hired. At the celebration dinner, Sophie meets her "ex-boyfriend" and Alex argues for him. Although it failed, the two developed their relationship and had sex that night. Then Sophie found that Cora didn't really understand the meaning of the song, and performed the song she wrote in the opposite direction. Alex stops Sophie from speaking her mind. He thinks this is the music business. The two disagreed, and alex even used her affairs with her ex-boyfriend to attack her. Sophie was speechless and left the apartment.

Act 3: Cora's concert. Cora announced that a new song by alex will be coming next. Sophie got up angrily and prepared to leave. Before I arrived before I left the venue, I heard a new song written by alex, expressing my apology to Sophie in the song. Sophie got into the backstage to find Alex, and the two hugged affectionately.
