Dirt is directed by Joe Baird and stars James McAvoy. James McAvoy showed his superb acting skills in this film and won the Best Actor Award at the 16th British Independent Film Awards. The film is adapted from the novel of the same name by Evan Welsh, the author of "Trainspotting". The protagonist of the story is a Scottish policeman with bipolar disorder, Bruce, who tells how he used evil means to achieve his goal in the process of handling the case, and finally fell into the abyss step by step. A deep story is told under the shell of comedy. Audiences will switch between two extreme movie-watching emotions, experiencing excitement and shock. The end of the story is impressive, the angel brushes past him, and only through self-redemption can he find true light. In terms of expression, the film uses the hallucinations of the protagonist to show the chaos and collapse of the spiritual world; it uses backlight to shoot a close-up of the protagonist Bruce, showing that he turns his back on the light and is in the dark. "My heart is gold and my hands are cold." - "Gasoline" When Bruce's clear blue eyes sparkle with vulnerability and sadness, it's very moving. He was deeply hurt by the world, and he longed for love in his heart but could not get it. How can a person who is not loved learn to love others? And so he fell, he fell with hopeless speed. In his eyes, both himself and others have been alienated. His fear, discrimination, self-deception, incompetence in love, and inability to reconcile with the world seem to be surrounded by walls, trapping him and turning his back on the light. Filth quotes

  • Bruce Robertson: See, every time a woman drops her trousers: promotion. Every time a man drops theirs: disciplinary action. Where's the equality in that?

  • Bruce Robertson: The games are always, repeat always, being played. But nobody plays the games like me. Detective Sergeant Bruce Robertson, soon to be Detective Inspector Bruce Robertson. You just have to be the best, and I usually am. Same rules apply.
