The Phantom of the Opera

The high-level restoration, the modification part is even better, the hand is luxurious and atmospheric, especially like the ending treatment. The Phantom of the Theater is also the closest to "human" setting among the eight monsters in the world. There is no interference from external factors, and the good and evil all come from the heart.
The appreciation of pure opera is still lacking, but I think the heroine's singing is very good, especially the familiar melody. The heroine is very beautiful in this movie, but I never thought of it as a little girl in the day after tomorrow.
Music is really the biggest highlight of this show, and basically the only highlight. It is a pity that as a movie, this alone is obviously not enough. The integration of music and drama is difficult but very important. It is a pity that the director has no way to master it well, and it is difficult for actors to balance sound and performance.

What can be said besides the classics! The plot, handsome guys and beauties are already a full score story, plus such a weeping and dreamlike music. Great!

The heroine has some facial paralysis, and her singing and acting are definitely not as good as West End, and she is particularly dissatisfied that the clothes of the actresses of Hannibal and Don Juan are not so gorgeous. The part of Don Juan's confrontation is missing the part where the Phantom struggles. Generally speaking, there are still surprises in the adaptation, especially the scenes that cannot be performed on the stage. I was still thinking about how to threaten the male lead, and how to destroy the voice of the soprano, but they all explained it. Very good, very good. Each has its own merits.

The Phantom of the Opera quotes

  • Christine: This haunted face holds no horror for me now. It's in your soul that the true distortion lies.

  • The Phantom: [sung] Christine Daae has returned to you, and I am anxious her career should progress. In the new production of "Il Muto", you will therefore cast Carlotta... as the Pageboy, and put Ms. Daae in the role of Countess. The role which Ms. Daae plays calls for charm and appeal. The role of the Pageboy is silent, which makes my casting-in a word... ideal.

    [spoken]

The Phantom: I shall watch the performance from my normal seat in Box Five, which *will* be kept empty for me. Should these commands be ignored, a disaster beyond your imaginations will occur. I remain, gentlemen, you obedient servant. O. G.
