The film consists of three parts, which are respectively told from the perspective of the maid, the young lady and the earl to tell the story and extend the story at the same time.
Desire is a wonderful thing, it seems to be easily ignited. Just as the Count used a naked woman to draw a cigarette, alluding to the temptation to ignite at a moment's notice, and at the same time, the pleasure quickly disappeared with every breath. It was also as if the earl said "You are so beautiful" to Junko, the former maid of the young lady, and the other party voluntarily undressed. The young lady read aloud in front of a group of male gentlemen, and the men immediately blushed. The young lady pretended to sacrifice herself in order to stun the earl. The earl, who was originally unmoved, was provoked immediately after the young lady read the lines in the rape story.
This desire comes and goes quickly. Just as the maid Junko was sent away from the mansion after a tryst with the earl. After the gentlemen listened to the reading, no matter how itchy they were, they quickly returned to their original state and said goodbye to the master of the mansion in good spirits. Even the seduced Count, all he fantasizes about is ten minutes of passion.
The short-lived desire is in sharp contrast to the desire between the next girl and the young lady. On the first night of the wedding, the young lady became lustful just by listening to the girl's singing. Even though the maid and the young lady were separated by a door, and the earl was sitting outside, they couldn't help but kiss. The lust of the next girl and the young lady is like the bright moon in the last scene, causing the tide to rise, seemingly invisible but arousing deep and long-lasting desire.
It turns out that this long desire is love. Miss intends to give up the plan to commit suicide, it is love. The young lady brought her daughter to the study, and when she saw all the books, the daughter's anger was to cherish the young lady and love. The next girl and the young lady run away together on the prairie towards the sunrise, it is love. The next girl and the young lady clasped their fingers on the boat to support each other, it was love.
Lust can arise from human animal instinct. It can also be born out of love for another and want to be one with it.
At the end of the film, I was lost because for a moment, I was afraid that I would be controlled by instinctive desires, or indulged in it.
Then I understood that no amount of desire can be deeper than love. The study that can save the young lady from the sea of lust, get rid of the uncle's lustful power, and escape from the sexual desire will never be another sea of lust for the earl, but the sea of love for the maid. Love is the only salvation.
