chanting, wailing

This movie is ranked first in the world's 100 same-sex movies, presumably because of the forbearance and depression that runs through the whole film.
The protagonist came to Venice for healing with the pain of losing his daughter. He accidentally caught a glimpse of a beautiful face in his empty heart, so he was deeply immersed in it. What kind of face can make a man over fifty years old unable to think normally, what kind of face can make a weather-beaten musician follow him unstoppably.
In my opinion, the protagonist is not in love with the boy, but has a natural pursuit and covetousness for beauty that transcends normal. This kind of desire is inexplicable, just like the water city shrouded in plague in the film, bleak, but hesitant to say anything.
The protagonist tried to break through his own limitations several times and approached the young man, but he just stood there stiffly and followed him with mournful and sad eyes. Even in his own imagination, he only dared to touch the young golden show. send. Mahler's Fifth Symphony appears and disappears in these detachments, with the Italian scene in the 1970s, like an aria, like a wailing.
This brings me back to Wilde, who, like the protagonist, has an unusual quest for beauty, whether it be paintings, landscapes, poetry, or teenagers. We always put the hats of romanticism and aestheticism on him, but as time passed, we realized that it was nothing but a lie, nothing but brutal realism.
