from oneself to others

Looking at the film from more than ten years ago, it does have a sense of the times, and the picture is a bit blurry, but the moving is still there. This film not only appeals to the public to care about the disabled, but also emphasizes that a person is born independent and equal.
Rory has always shown people as a rebellious and fearless image, with the first appearance of afro head, nose ring, punk style dress, maverick, out of tune with the atmosphere of the nursing home. He is eager to integrate into society, to live like ordinary people, to love, drink and entertain like ordinary people, and to have his own residence like ordinary people. He is very transparent, always piercing the pity behind people's kindness. When Rory was in the passenger seat and felt the drag racing, he was furious when the police found out that he made a special decision not to arrest him. This is the most distressing place for me. Being treated differently for physical reasons, even if it is well-intentioned, will make people feel unfair.
Mike is very simple. After moving out of the nursing home with Rory, he has always been full of good expectations and hopes for his life in society, but love never belonged to him. He tried to tell the heroine that he liked but cried when he was rejected. Sad.
The most embarrassing thing in the whole film is that Mike and the heroine finally applied for Rory's permission for an independent living allowance, but Rory has already passed away. Rory's father spread his hands helplessly. The disappearance of young life is like a heavy blow. In the hearts of the audience, it is really sad.
Seeing myself in the movies, in high school, I went to a charity school to see little kids, and I always thought they were pitiful, they needed protection, they needed care, they needed care, and it was amazing to see them do something on their own, now think about it , why do I think they can't do it? I put myself in a high place to pity others. This kind of starting point is wrong. The real concern is to put the other party in the same position, truly respect them, respect their rights and interests, and should not have an unwarranted sense of superiority. How can the limbs be healthy? We are all independent individuals in terms of personality and thinking, and we are not superior to others.
Therefore, in the future, I must learn to respect, to treat others equally, and to pay attention to myself and others. This is what the movie taught me. Well, finally here is a bit of a schoolboy composition.

Rory O'Shea Was Here quotes

  • Michael Connolly: [Siobhan is interpreting Michael's words] When I first met Rory I thought he was trouble. And I was right. He *is* trouble. Yet because he is seen as a rebel, you believe he hasn't the responsibility to live independently. But how do you learn to be responsible? You live in the world. You make your own decisions. You make your own mistakes. So if this panel can offer independent living to someone like me who until recently had no concept of what that meant, and refuse someone whose very life is an embodiment of independence, then I believe that the panel showed a prejudice.

  • Rory: [looking at Michael] You have the future, Michael. That's what *I* call a gift.
